That ws an eminently satisfying watch. The team are playing for each other, defending was generally superb.

Dominant displays through the centre of pitch from Moore, McGuame and Harris.

Nelson looks past it, Kane Wilson excellent. I’d say though that Derby will be up there this season.

Which makes tonigt’s result doubly satisfying.

Great shift lads, was very impressed with the work rate from front to back. Very pleased with Browne’s positional discipline as well.

Harris, dynamite.

COYY .

I was celebrating only for Gerome to dull it very quickly with his side netting quote. Subsequently, as it was in the net I thought the net must have malfunctioned!
That kind of snafu is usually Nick Harris’ calling card! It would be so classically him to confuse himself with our goalscoring hero tonight!

Well what a difference 6 days makes - a selection from last Wednesday's Bristol City post-match analysis :) - shows what we know!

COYY.
Embarrassing comments really after 2 games. solid performance against Carlisle and tonight was our best result for a long long time against a team with a massive budget

No more embarrassing than Derby fans calling for Warne to resign after 2 narrow home losses.

Won't be back until the small hours but that was a brilliant away day. Makes it all worth it

Want to mention a few players in a fantastic team performance.

Negru - looked solid, you would never guess he had so few first team appearance. Done amazingly to handle the pressure and take his chance.

Beadle - settling into it now, done well to be strong after a tough start. Great work.

Tyler Goodrham - exemplary work rate.

Sparky - simply brilliant. He reminds me a little of Hylton. Fantastic. Hit that first one like a rocket. He's got a foot like a traction engine.

Ciaron Brown - much much better tonight.

GOD - his strength closing down games is valuable.

Shout out to the fans. I know some younger fans took some flack at Cambridge but the young lads were brilliant tonight leading the atmosphere - top marks.

Credit to Liam Manning too. Work out how to beat teams that set up like Cambridge and we can dare to dream?

Let's back it up with three points Saturday.

Up the OX!

I think we, as OUFC, should aim higher than being "no more embarrassing than Derby".

That was a seriously good performance.

Manning has already shown how this is a squad game, cleverly freshening up midfield and the front 3.

McGuane was great, possibly partly due to him not playing 90 mins on Saturday. The ability to rotate players in midfield and up top without weakening us is so important and will pay dividends as the season progresses.

I wasn’t expecting Rodrigues to be benched, but what an impact he made. With Derby pushing on he was the perfect player to come on and exploit the pockets of spaces.

Harris was class, 2 seriously good finishes and great closing down.

I’d be interested to compare Long’s stats from tonight v his Carlisle performance. I saw someone post some impressive looking stats from Saturday’s game, but to me he failed the ‘eye test’ on Saturday, just don’t think he played that well. However I thought he was really good tonight, but wouldn’t be surprised if his stats tonight weren’t as good. Funny old game..

Probably wrong not to praise more players, what a joy to watch!!

Almost bizarre to think how comfortable we looked at 2-0 and disappointing how we gave away a goal.

Really should have had a stonewall penalty, and on another day Derby could have had two sent off, one for an elbow not long after the non-pen and clearly for a second booking for the pull back right at the end.

Fantastic result and the kind of performance I'd hoped we'd be seeing this season. Get in!

Picked up a lot of stick recently from a lot of people me included but Sam Long really impressive tonight. Could argue he won us the game with his clearance on 78’ when it was going in and Beadle was beaten. I don’t think we would’ve held out for 20 minutes if they scored then.

Just home.

Now then, that was a proper performance tonight. We were magnificent from start to finish.

Marcus McGuane MOTM for me. He was unplayable in the deep lying CM role. Special mention for Harris, Long, Negru and Moore as well!

We played with purpose to break lines and get the ball into Harris. It was a pleasure to watch.

As @pidge said Sam long has come I for a lot of criticism and as @pidge said me included as I’ve not been to impressed with him starting last season but tonight he played a blinder and if he keeps that up we will have tie Sam Long back from a couple of seasons ago.
