Spot on - brilliant memory. Where did you find these photos? Bringing back some memories for me, so thank you LJS.

On a sadder note, it's a shame our support (or should I say passionate, vocal, colourful, vociferous, loud support?) feels like it's ebbed away for a long time now.

I made most of the flags in all the pictures posted.

Ultimate Yellows... as a few on here will remember.

Zac On Tour flag was one of the Ultras founders.
Does he still go? The flags you made were awesome, mate. We must have been some of the first fans in England to use those telescopic poles. Somehow, the ultras used to sneak them into away ends even in the football league.

The ghostbusters one was iconic!

I got a job lot of the telescopic poles from a fishing shop in North way who was selling them off cheap.

I think he goes now and again but looks busy on the F1 circuit these days.

No music after goals

No drum

No stupid clappers

Itโ€™s quite simple, get off your a**e and clap your hands. Sing your heart out and donโ€™t leave it to someone else ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Remove the seats in the east stand and fans won't have to get off their a**e!

The problem with the East Stand is the top third is full of fans willing to stand, chant and create an atmosphere. The lower 2 thirds of the stand is like a family stand where the only time people stand up is to let someone out the row or we score.

It doesn't help that the price is cheaper in the east stand compared to the north and sound stands. Alot would shift to the sides if they didn't have to pay anymore and the east stand would become more of a kop end.

A very young version of myself waving one you made for me on the top row in those photos.

Went onto run the ultras as well.

The flags you made were an inspiration, thankyou @ljs

I also remember when the OxKits sites documented every single flag you made with a photo of each, sadly I guess that's impossible to retrieve now.

As for the atmosphere, I could write a book on what worked with our fanbase, what would be a waste of time, how to fix it immediately, how to fix it long term etc etc.

If you want a dramatic immediate improvement you'll require the club to make a big decision that every owner / staffing setup through the years will bottle, every single time.

Things like 10% capacity and selling east stand as unreserved seating, or a section of it. Moving away fans and trialling them in different areas of the ground, trialling new ideas at cup games.

Long term we tried installing an ultras, German style, fan culture over 10 years but sadly once the ultras disbanded that culture evaporated, it's sad to see.

I see some young lads are still flying flags, the club should work with them on the new stadium now. That safe standing area at the new stadium should aim to look the same as all equivalents in German grounds. A space to hang banners along the front and allow waving flags for the duration.

You can argue about the drums forever, but as a footnote our light, higher pitched snare drum improved the atmosphere ten times over in the east stand, whilst it was inaudible from north and south. I was always against the loud deep bass drums like the rest!

Seems like a long time ago. As it happens I've still got the images of all (?) the flags I made. Just had a quick count and there are over 80.
I wonder how many still exist.

Relieved you kept them saved, worried they were lost with the old website! Ghostbusters was a fan favourite for sure!

Its the close season and time for eternal threads........... :)

The product on the pitch builds the atmosphere. That`s it.

And for those who say "standing helps" - remember the club have a text service that allows folk to grass on you for such things.

Some of us bought our tickets "off plan" so that we could stand, at the back, with like minded folk. Trouble is we are getting old now. :ROFLMAO:

If you can be arsed, set up a thread and post them, would be good to have an archive of them all on here.

I think we need some better songs.
Bring back some more old classics.
Modern football songs are naff, dull, and every club sings them (eg that awful "everywhere we go" nonsense - i refuse to sing that).

Yellow Submarine is all well and good but its just a chant, in current form, which is soon done.
Liam Mannings Yellow Army is fine, but gets boring quickly.
Swindon fan on a string - doesnt exactly inspire / lift the team.

We need our own new song, something lively and uplifting to get the players going, that can be sung over and over.

Otherwise we end up with a song starting, ending and thats it.

Get yer quills out lads, and get writing some songs. We must have a yellow Noel Gallagher who can write something simple and catchy
