Lunch time question for us all - who are the players with concerning injury histories that we've signed and have worked out the best?

Suspect it could be my memory but seems most of them struggle to shake the injuries, or they're not the player they once were.

I must be forgetting some/plenty.

It’s refreshing to see us at least linked with the fullback cover that we need!

I’d be lying if I said I thought a 4th choice (according to the article I’ve just read) teenager from the league above would be how I’d go about it…but at least it’s a hint that something might happen!

At the risk of sounding too negative…It certainly doesn’t sound like the kind of transfer a meticulously executed, well prepared transfer window (that we’d been prepping for since before the end of last season) brings though. Admittedly said without ever seeing the poor lad play - he may be a teenage Baggie Cafu for all I know!

Just on the Taylor thing. He always has relatively slow starts to the season.
The stats included in the OM article "Taylor did not get off the mark until his sixth game of 2019/20, managed three in his first 12 at the start of 2020/21 and only bagged once in his opening eight matches last term."

If it continues then we can get concerned, but for now, it's the same as every season he has been here.

And how much of it is to do with the fact that the team as a whole starts poorly every season?

Chicken and egg I guess. Is the team struggling because Taylor is not scoring or is Taylor not scoring because the team is struggling?

For me, it's most definitely the latter - but as ever when we're not getting results Matty Taylor is a convenient scapegoat for some.

You could be right but any manager worth his weight would be praising his star striker from previous seasons who is having a difficult start. Don't over think it.
Or one that wouldn’t have taken him off against his former club, bet that did his confidence a world of good.

Full list of all players KR has used at Oxford;

Some of the ones that I remember to be injured quite a bit and never able to hit the highlights again:
Robbie Hall, Jamie Hanson, Sam Winnall, George Thorne, Ricky Holmes.

When we signed Matt Taylor I remember thinking "great impact player, but how many games are we going to get out of him?". Can't remember if that was based on reality or just my general pessimism. Either way, I was dead wrong.

It's exactly what I would expect KR to do or he might convert some wingers to fullbacks.
I hope that your last sentence is true.

If the board are unhappy with KR then they are unlikely to approve any more expensive signings.

I don't think the board are unhappy with him, also I think they would approve big money signings still, but only with the approval of other areas of the club (head of scouting, recruitment etc).

Just to be clear, no issue at all with Taylor. Guys a gem. We have played his anti-game so far this season (hoof it up and ask him to chase) so it's no surprise to see him struggling.

It's just clear that we are putting a lot of eggs in his basket again and that talk of new strikers is utter guff (like most things this window)
