Transfer News 2022/23 Season Incoming Transfers and a few other things

From my source

The money is available and has been all window, the board is supplying a top 4 budget this season.

The problems seem to be that Karl didn't know what system he wanted to play at the start of the window, he also outlined players but had no back up players for when his first targets went elsewhere. He spent around 10 days in Spain right when the transfer window opened and players returned to training, his lack of being able to board a plane and lack of a DOF doing deals over here cost us. We were relying on loanees from premier league sides who have gone down the route of sending that player elsewhere.
“From my source….” Yawn.

This negativity is so boring, especially when it dresses itself up like this.

With respect that's simply not true. We would have had dozens of players identified across several positions. Some would be prioritised over others, that's obvious. However the idea that any manager at any professional football club had no back up options is insane.

Also this is 2022. 99% of all transfer deals are conducted via phone calls in the early stages. Robinson could have been sat on the centre circle of the Kassam or being in deepest, darkest Peru and it would have changed nothing during those early days of the transfer window.

That's not to say that we haven't missed out on targets, we very clearly have. But not for the reasons you have given.

Why have we missed out on them?

Now who's being negative?
You are confusing “being negative” with “being dismissive of negativity”.

I’m feeling so positive about our football club, I’ve just donated to Oxford Fanatics flag fund.

You?

Could have had a marmalade sandwich hidden under his hat too!

That might hav swung a much needed deal our way!!

Could we be in for him?

From BBC website: A number of Championship and League One clubs are interested in taking Manchester United's Welsh midfielder Charlie Savage, 19, on loan. (Mail)

Everybody I know has got a source.
It's called idle gossip. With a few added bit's to the story, every time somebody passes it on.

Sorry, I made a mistake.

I meant to say 'Now look who's being needlessly aggressive to strangers expressing their opinion on an opinion website, and contributing to exactly what they are moaning about in the process'.

My mistake

I’m afraid it’s time we started calling out “strangers expressing their opinions on an opinion website” when their constant moaning, negativity and faux-ITK bollox is doing active harm towards the club they profess to support (and probably its continuing efforts to sign new players).

I made a polite request this morning for negative posters to fixate on something else that gives them pleasure - the live dissection of small mammals perhaps - but you have already dragged me down again.

The reasons I have given are from a source very close to Karl, overall people in the club also think this transfer window has been poor. Not everything has to be positive scotchers and like everything you learn from mistakes.

But on a thread about transfers, why can't people express concern that Robinson doesn't want new full backs, when Seddon isn't good enough, Brown is our only senior CB cover and Is also our LB cover, and Long has no backup or competition?

Robinson said 13 months ago he knows we need a big physical CM. He hasn't signed one in that time.

I doubt any posts on here are impacting transfers and are impacting the club. Yes there are some people who are negative for the sake of it, but it’s entertaining and they still support the club. If people from the club do read the comments here, and actually pay attention to them, they should see the criticism as constructive, not negative

The story goes he pricked his finger on a thorn, & it was bleeding. To he cut his hand with a carving knife & had to have it amputated 🤔🤔🤘

I don’t think any fair-minded person would regard the 700 pages of bile here as some people expressing “concern” about Karl Robinson “not wanting” full backs. How do they know that when he has consistently said the opposite? And did Robinson really say we needed a “big physical CM” 13 months ago? Not sure I heard him say anything more than we need “more power in the centre of the pitch” which he may well have addressed with MB and MM.

There is a virus of hysterical negativity running through this thread, egged on by a few people who I suspect have something seriously wrong in their lives and something even worse in their fridges.

Judging by Robinson’s comments, I fear he does read this forum from time to time. He seems a sensitive soul and that must get him down. I also think it’s entirely possible a prospective signing or his agent might have a look at a fans’ forum to see what kind of club they would be joining.

A few minutes spent here would be enough to convince them that Oxford is in meltdown, “there is something bad happening behind the scenes”, the manager has lost the support of the fans, most of whom seem unhinged.

The truth, so far as I can tell, is we’re buying players for large sums of money, bidding for more, keeping hold of Cam Bran, Moore and Bodin. We have had, in our last three seasons, the three highest finishes this century. We are trying to build a new ground. The club is going in the right direction.

I would hate to think what people would be writing on this forum if none of that was happening…

I heard a vicious rumour that clubs, even up to the size of, say, Blackpool...have missed out on targets this window.

It was just a genuine question asking why we specifically had missed out on some targets, I get all clubs do just wondered if we had been been outbid, players not wanting to drop down etc

I’m still waiting for us to sign players that we’re top six last season. That’s what Gobbo Robbo said.
