If Morton doesnt come we will get another decent player in. Starting to feel more confident we haven't got the loans in yet it could be a very exciting few weeks yet. We are starting to get some real winners in. And is there another real star man to come in yet?

Get your point Scotchers but we go after really good players and we end up losing out.
Trouble Is we spend weeks waiting for Tyler Morton and find out two weeks before the season he’s not coming because a Championship club has beaten us to it and of course Liverpool would want that.
However we are now scrambling around for a not so good replacement because other players have now been snapped up.

Do you see my point

I get your point, but there will always be some players that you will go all out for and someone like Tyler Morton is that kind of player. That doesn't mean that you don't have other options, and things can change quickly.

But being "aggressive" is about going after the very best players we can even if we miss out on a few.

Getting over the disappointment of yesterday’s result against Plymouth was thinking what do we need to strengthen us for next season. All I kept thinking about was how we need a ST next to Taylor/Baldock who does not stop running a harassing opposition defences.

I feel we need a LWB & RWB and could even go to the extent of saying a new GK

Any suggestions of players would like to see ?

For me I’d like to sign someone like Alfie May from Cheltenham. When we have played against him this year he has been very lively and would suit or pressing from the front style ?
Briefly going back to the original post 613 pages ago, we're still short up top.

Taylor our only fit striker with Browne able to play up there if needed.

I hope any front man that comes offers something different to Taylor and Baldock.

It frustrates me how we seem to turn our nose up at target men, Ryan Taylor kept Hylton out the side because of his link up play with Roofe.

The majority of sides that have gone up automatically have all had a big target man to play off, Will Keane, Michael Smith etc. Having that option to go direct when the game, pitch or opposition simply isn't allowing for our usual style, gets you playing in the final third so easily.

I wonder if the Kion Etete rumour is still active, would fit the bill at 6 ft 6.

Yes this post was an excuse to quote the opening post, we've come so far I feel a bit emotional.

Hello hahah I’m still here also remember doing this post angrily after the Plymouth defeat. I do agree I’d love us to get a big lump up top but listening to KR on this podcast we have done. He would never revert to that style. I would love to see it but doubt it

According to a Cheltenham fan, to paraphrase: Etete isn't particularly good at winning the ball in the air for a big man but play the ball into his feet or chest down and they won't get it off him.

Which of the positions I mentioned would you not fill, in order to get a fullback?

I don’t agree with this current obsession on here about our fullbacks not being good enough, although I agree if we do play 3 at the back then we need wingbacks on both sides.

Personally as we have absolutely no proper right wingers at the club then that would be a priority for me!
So for me if I could make only 5 more signings, they would be:
LB
RB (Long would become my 3rd/4th choice CB and 2nd choice RB)
CDM/CM (depends how we view Smyth - if we see him as a holding midfielder, I'd like a box to box CM, if we see him as a more natural CM then I'd like a specialist CDM)
RW
ST

Blackburn are linked and so are others withTyler Morton, when i first hinted at us being linked with him i stated there were 2 other clubs after him at the time. The position with him has not changed and those interested are receiving the same response.
Liverpool are deciding whether to keep him in and around the first team or send him on loan to develop further for 6 months, they have games both next Saturday and Sunday and he is expected to feature and any decision is unlikely before then.

I'm sure there is a plan b, c and d that are sounded out just in case plan a doesn't work. It would be the only way to do it

To be honest Im not bothered if we get him or not if itll only be for 6 months. Nothing frustrates me more than having a player doing really well and being an important part of the team only to see him recalled by his parent club in Januar, leaving us hunting around for a suitable replacement.

Lancs Live reports that Blackburn and Liverpool have reached a deal for Morton but that Liverpool have injuries at present.

Yes
There should be but my point is if you go after player a and have to wait and see if he will/will not come you could lose out on player b c and d and you are then struggling
