Bear in mind that this prat thinks Covid is a hoax and boasted about only watching Russia Today, as the BBC wasn’t right wing enough

Told you before wind your neck in, before insulting people.

I’m entitled to my opinions, and what I watch on the television has got absolutely nothing to do with you.

Your a typical woke person. It’s frowned upon to have different opinions and views to you.

I never boasted about watching Russian tv. I claimed it was proper news to what the Sky and BBC broadcasters pump out. I also watch GB news too. Although that’s a bit tinpot looking.

I'm sure this week will be exciting if not it's only three weeks until we play derby so there are exciting times on the horizon
Trying my best to be positive honest

Love the fact that you're not questioning that you think covid is a hoax or that you watch Russia Today!!

I’ve openly said I watch RT news, but where I’m getting a little hazy is what the hell that has to do with a transfer thread?

To be fair most of the stuff posted on this thread has been about as accurate and factual as RT News
Yep. Certainly had many saying a big signing is coming "tomorrow" for months.

Sinclair sums up this window. Last resort territory already. I wonder if any other club has supporters who will make excuses for shite windows like this.

Clock continues to click down to Derby away.

I guess the issue is where you make allegations of Robinson doing "something" that damages the club but without going into specific detail. You then look at the integrity of who is making those claims and find that they not only denied the existence of a global pandemic but also have questionable tastes on what they see as a credible news source.

That has nothing to do with whether or not we bring in another left back, but everything to do with "I'm sure there are people on here who know what I do"!

I went to both games, the stand out players were our 'established' professionals - Moore, Cam, Matty, Ciaron Brown - but not a great deal else to get excited about, it was more about fitness today, bloody hot!
-Sorry but I don't agree Golding is anywhere near ready for our level.
-Smyth looked ok but KR was certainly doing a lot of coaching of him during the game.
-Seddon looked industrious and tried hard but no real quality in his play.
-Sinclair tried and ran more than I remember him doing before but no real supply to him.
-Easty looked uncertain. Stevens has certainly bulked up a bit, didn't recognise him at first!
-Bodin dropped very deep at times, but balls forward weren't great.
-Both teams played 4-3-3 so I guess we will be going with a back four, I predict:

Long Moore Brown Seddon

Really need that extra squad depth we're all praying for.🙏🏽

Thank you for a sensible post! At City I felt the likes of Henry and Bodin were really pacing themselves but Cam can only play at 100 per cent.

Even the most positive must have to admit some concern by now, as we enter the final 3 weeks before the season starts.

3 weeks ago I recall thinking that the reactions on here were OTT and that with 6 weeks to go we should use the weekend of 9th July as the benchmark - "No-one to complain til then, but if 90% of our business isn't sorted by that point, all bets off, free reign on complaints".

Arbitary date perhaps.
I didn't think it would be needed.

When our season effectively ended on April 23rd, who among us thought that by 9th July we'd have announced zero new players into the squad for 22/23 from those that ended the 21/22 season? Seriously?

I'm still not panicing, but to pretend that this has gone well or is even just teething problems is being disingenuous. Even if we end up doing some good business we've still not covered ourselves in glory with how long it has taken.

I'll use the analogy of the boiling frog. No, we werent dumped in boiling water on 29th July. However, we were placed in cold water in April and with every passing week, as the temperature increased, we've effectively gone 'its ok, we'll jump out next week well before the boil'. Yet we're still sat there. Cooking. We can jump out soon, but we may already be burnt.

Whilst I appreciate it's not easy, it is a professional operation and this isn't the summer chilling on the lilly pads we'd hoped for is it?

I still think we'll be competitive but the step change in our recruitment hasn't happened.

I saw the north Leigh game and agree with summary

Yes but you could also argue if the board want promotion they haven't employed a head of recruitment for transfers to get the players over the like.
Unless the board has been told that the manager doesn’t want somebody working above him unless he gets to personally select them, and they’ve (quite amazingly) agreed to it while he then says that he doesn’t feel he needs anyone at the moment unless Steve Gallen magically decides to sign up?

The board certainly had no problem with coughing up over a million pounds to redecorate and refurbish the entire training complex this summer, nor spending (and turning down) boat loads of money on signing and keeping players over the last year, so I’m not sure there’s a lack of cash or a lack of willingness to invest in a key member of staff. They paid half a million quid in wages and loan fees to sign Herbie Kane for a single season. Half that amount per year in wages would get you the best head of recruitment / DoF in the entire division. Given player trading is basically the only meaningful revenue stream that the football club has outside of mere match tickets, why wouldn’t the board invest in making sure that recruitment is as good as it can reasonably be? It’s the only department of the business taking any of the strain off their own wallets. Why would they spend over a million pounds on some new furniture and some fancy LED lights in the changing rooms at Horspath to then starve the club of a vital staff member? How would that make any sense?

The answer is that the board is both willing and able to hire somebody to sit in that chair, and at some point soon they’re going to need to do it regardless of any tantrums that might occur as a result. The recruitment department is currently set up exactly how the person starting to whinge about it on the radio wants it to be.

I remain fairly neutral at this point if not cautious of our future business.

If by the commencement of the season we have strengthened, the window has been a success irrespective of the timings of those signings (even if it’s not ideal).

I said earlier this week if we haven’t seen much by the end of the week it’s cause for panic, however should Stuart Findlay expectedly join then I think we can hold off from hitting the panic button just yet.

I haven’t listened to the KR interview following the Banbury fixture however I gather the next few days will be vital. If we are looking at Jerome Sinclair or similar then we have likely churned through a lot of our first options and it could be argued it is looking desperate. Perhaps my faith was a little misplaced if we do follow up in our interest (however I’m inclined to think we might be helping him as much as he is helping us by joining during pre-season). I do still think that it’s unlikely he will be offered anything though.
