I have quite a crude view on it. If you're not in the playoffs or relegation zone, you are mid table. The midst of nothingness. The also-rans. The bang average. The great escapers. The serial bottlers. The waifs and strays. A lovely mix of nothingness.

Billy Bodin played regularly, week in and week out from 22 Jan when we switched formation to the end of the season bar a 5 game spell. Before that he was available and played in 7 games or was on the bench for pretty much most of the season.

As a further counterpoint, I'd again point to Sam Long who has had bad injuries in his career and Nathan Holland, who played in 39 games for us last season, has had bad injuries as he was pretty much out for a season and a half before coming back on loan. I think it just has to be taken on a case by case basis. I will add I hope they have done extensive tests on Jodi Jones if we've signed him.

That’s disingenuous and you know it. We were in and around the playoffs all season till we messed up at the end. You could call Bolton mid table though they threatened more at times.

Yes, fair enough, he did have a 3/4 week injury too I think. In any case it doesn't really change my overall point though, with him, Gorrin and Brown I think we have enough risk in terms of either players coming back from serious injuries or players who have experienced long term injury issues in their career. Available or not, as I was trying to point Bodin only played 21 games last year and given his history would still be a player who I would put in the important to manage box even with him playing for 3 months or so in a row, minus him missing five games. I personally don't feel it's worth taking another punt on a player with long term injury problems at this point, given all of that.

I deal in outcomes and both are looking at a visit to Accrington this season. But also, interestingly teams like Morecambe don't bleat about top 30 in the country so there's an element of expectation levels too.

Anyhow, back to the topic at hand :)

That’s Jones as good as confirmed then! I really hope he kicks on with us, and shuts a few people up along the way! All the best to the lad. Clearly a talented player, and a low risk / high reward type of signing. I would imagine it’ll be a 1 year deal, and his salary will be subject to appearances.

I’m sure this will boil the P**s of some; and for that reason alone, I’m backing this lad! COYY!

Browne's tweet is from 11th May, the day Jones confirmed he was leaving Coventry.
I doubt it has any reference to him ending up with us 6 weeks later, more coincidental. They've tweeted positive things to each other previously.

To give you your due, I'm pretty sure I recall you claiming we were 'in a relegation dogfight' when we were in 3rd place in Division 3, about two seasons ago. Nothing if not consistent.

There's a difference between people saying we won't have a *strong* team for the first game of the season, compared to not being able to name a side, which equals not fulfilling the fixture and forfeiting the match.
