Adam Smith has been released.
And others typical response is to catastrophize everything!Sorry, Egg, but when it comes to debate about our squad/club/manager, this is your typical response.
As a one off, I agree, it would be crazy. And others typical response is to catastrophize everything!
Worrying about classing Browne as one of FOUR strikers as well as being able to play off the wing, as a number 10 or attacking midfielder, is crazy.
Tyreece Simpson I mentioned before is some one who has the physical element needed in this team to hold the ball up got good line up play & has goals in him Ipswich haven’t given him a chance since coming back from a excellent spell at scum wants to leave (Barnsley & Peterborough already linked with him)I’m not averse to limiting Browne to playing as a striker or #10 just behind them.
I do think he is outstanding as a winger (I’ve never forgotten how he tore Sunderland to shreds from the wing on our first trip to the SOL) and I love his ability to move quickly with the ball at his feet from CM when he plays there too.
But even during his first spell here he was constantly managing slightly problematic knee injuries. He’s had a very serious injury since then. I think putting him up front, or just behind the front two saves him from having to do some of the really hard running that he’d have to from CM or on the wing - potentially ensuring he can play more games for us next season. That effortless goal he scored at Fratton Park a couple of months ago shows what potential he has there.
Clearly KR can still stick him wide or in the midfield for a game or two if needed, but in the interest of having Browne on the pitch as often as possible next season, knowing he’s always had a body which needs some careful management, I am ok with him being considered more of a striker.
Browne, Taylor, Baldock and a taller, physical unit we can play a more direct style of football to when needed (Harrison would’ve worked for me this season, and he was outstanding for Fleetwood a couple of weeks ago - so someone like that would do me fine) sounds pretty decent for a stable of four strikers to start the season with…
No but we have been so reliant on Taylor all this season even when his form been off start & the end of this season (Winnall always injured, Ayegi was absolutely useless, Baldock superb but only lasted 4 week before being out for the rest of the season)Karl spoke of Browne being one of FOUR strikers. The other 3 will be specialists, Taylor (one of the best in the league), Baldock (a class above at this level), a new recruit (Norwood/Stockton level) and Browne.
In addition, it's likely that Gaitlin O'Donkor and Adam Smith will get some playing time in the Papa John games and may even make the bench if there is an increase in substitutes allowed.
I'm not sure that striker options are where we need to start panicking!
I think he’s still got that raw pace fortunately, saw it at Rotherham. One run, albeit only 5 yards, was blistering.I’d like to see a striker with raw pace to offer something totally different to Taylor/Baldock. Whether Browne can be that man I’m not sure since his latest injury.

Based on those KR wants to keep, you'd have players counting towards the squad cap as follows
FB: Long, Seddon.
CB: Moore, McNally, Mousinho.
CDM: Gorrin, Smyth.
CM: Brannagan, McGuane, Henry, Forde.
CAM: Bodin
W: Williams.
ST: Taylor, Browne, Baldock.
Players who don't count
GK: Eastwood, Stevens, Brearey
CB: Golding
W: Goodrham
ST: O'Donkor
Unsure on contract status
GK: Chapman, Plumley
So we can sign up to six players! CoolBased on those KR wants to keep, you'd have players counting towards the squad cap as follows

We need 7 player in next season Mousinho needs to come out of the 22 I’ll never under stand why we’ve keep Forde 3 sub appearances in 2022 doesn’t get a game anymore only to sit on the bench or up in the stands lack of ambition on his part specially as he’s still good enough to play for a mid table League 1 Cheltenham Cambridge etcBased on those KR wants to keep, you'd have players counting towards the squad cap as follows

Yes that's about right but then of course there could be replacements needed for Moore, Cam or McNallyWe need 7 next season Mousinho needs to come out I’ll never under stand why we’ve keep Forde 3 sub appearances in 2022 to sit on the bench or up in the stands
Right Wing Back
Left Back who can defend unlike Seddon
Centre Back
Defensive Midfielder
2 Wingers to replace Whyte & Holland
Striker for Winnall
Yes that’s without them goingYes that's about right but then of course there could be replacements needed for Moore, Cam or McNally
I'd be furious.I would be surprised if Mous is in next years squad.
Why waste our time going with same again that’s failed when they’ve not produced when it really matters, Whyte summed up his season yesterday when he came on: gave the ball cheaply made the wrong decision at times & keep running into a blind alley, he was useless (just like his end product has been)Surely Ciaran Brown who fills a centre back and defensive left back would be a solid signing .
Holland/ Whyte possibly if the price is right .
