Home Match Day Thread 23/01/21 L1 - OUFC v Bristol Rovers

Kelly played well today. If he has protection and legs around him he dominates with his passing.

Cam Bran bulkier and stronger. Looks like he will come back a better player.

Defence rock hard. Moore best of bunch.

isnt Jerome from a family of Rovers fans?( could be wrong here.) He was too charitable to them in his commentary , they look like bottom 4 material to me.

Very happy with the win , looked a bit rusty as expected here and there but some very good displays by the back 5 , Shodipo has really stepped up and as for Matty T simply a goalscorer and becoming a real pain for defenders with his all round play .
Henry still not there , Winnal struggling to make any impact while the others all decent enough .
Good win especially against them. Bye Irene

Great result! Always had a feeling Taylor would get on the score sheet at Bristol. Shame we couldn’t have been there to watch it, always an “enjoyable” trip down the M4

Also, am I the only one who thinks Tisdale is overrated? He gets plaudits because he dresses smart, talks posh and wears flat caps.
Don’t forget the cravat

That was poor..... this isn’t the reason we lost the game but the referee was atrocious today.... gave us absolutely nothing and all big decisions against us..... also was inconsistent with treatment of fouls and bookings giving them against us but not Oxford when they did exactly the same foul..... complete homer....

To be fair we have reacted very much the same about games in the past.

(I'm feeling guilty now because I texted my pompey-supporting mate asking if Whatmough was going for a hat trick. It's 1:20 am here and I know how gutting it is traipsing off to bed after a hiding like that at this hour. Still, 2 own goals in a game - got to laugh, haven't you?)

Comments after Mattys 2nd

Miles offside

Looked miles off!!!

2 offside ffs

At least 3 yards offside

I honestly didn’t care how we played today, just as long as we won. And we did. Great result!.

Dubes scored a couple of horrific own goals in a match for Oxford - then scored the equaliser!

Lovely. Makes the win all the sweeter.

What were the big decisions that went against them? Nowt wrong with the 1st goal as definitely onside as shown by the replay, their 3 (or who was out on the left of their backline) kept Snake onside for the 2nd. There wasn't any bad challenges that I can think of and the Ref got the bookings spot on for me for both sides. Rovers fans are doing some epic straw clutching if they are trying to divert any blame on to the Ref.
