By ballot? Perhaps a little more thought needs to be given to that idea.Jerome said that United are planning to let 1,000 fans watch the Sunderland home match as a test event. Season ticket holders would be selected by ballot.

Invitation only, names drawn from all areas of the ground or maybe just a couple of stands to allow for controlled entry and exits. Seems entirely reasonable under the circumstances and will give a little back to season ticket holders who were not expecting to be able to attend.
What alternative do you propose? Not entirely reasonable is it? The club can’t do much about it but 1 in 4 season ticket holders who have paid to attend actually getting in is not that great.

I don’t have one, doesn’t mean it’s fair though does it? Taking money off people for something they can’t see isn’t fair is it?
I support OUFC no matter what, if I miss games through no fault of my own due to Covid19, then so be it. As long as the club does not lose out more than they currently are then that's fine by me. At the end of the day it's the club and our team that matter. This has nothing to do with being "fair" and everything to do with making the best of a horrible situation. Around 4000 people have bought a season ticket, the vast majority of whom had no idea if they'd be able to see a single game live when they paid up. As it stands, it looks like most will only miss the one league game with the hope that we could be around 30% capacity in October. And that one game that will be missed, around a quarter will be able to attend to allow the club to test their processes.
Of course some could say that they've been hard done by and losing money for something they can't see, but I'd like to think that our fan base are better than that - even on here!
The impracticality of a ballot lies in the outcome. If I were to be selected but my wife not, would I feel comfortable about attending? No. If the ballot were to select "social bubbles" and thus not cause splits in families etc, maybe.Invitation only, names drawn from all areas of the ground or maybe just a couple of stands to allow for controlled entry and exits. What if the one selected needed a driver to get to the game and that person was not selected? Would it be right if a minor was selected but not the responsible adult?
That is why I said the idea needs to be thought through. So, your response that a ballot is a reasonable option, given the circumstances, is, in my opinion, not reasonable especially given the circumstances. The very same that will mean one selected to attend could then endanger those not selected (within a "social bubble")

and that allegation is not true, ST holders get a free stream if they can't attend in person, that was stated in the Ts and Cs of purchase. They therefore will get to see the match.I think everyone who purchased a season ticket did so very much with their eyes open.
A bit like going to Europe for a holiday....don’t complain if you suddenly have to rush back to avoid quarantine
I see absolutely no justification to now be complaining about the club “taking money off people” for something they can’t see. They didn’t take money off of you, you made that decision and if it bothers you that much you should have given the matter it a little more thought.
This is an incredibly difficult situation for the club to manage and no decision will satisfy all.
It is what it is, so we just have to suck it up, taking comfort from the fact that our financial support rather than verbal support is helpIng the club at the moment.
And don’t forget that you can still see the games, just not in person.

To be fair, he also said that about Wembley, I think most clubs will request it when they can though. In his iFollow interview KR said that we might be asking for dispensation to make the next round of the EFL Cup a test case for allowing fans in, should be get a home draw.
As someone who goes on his own, I'd *like* to say this is complete codswallop. Unfortunately though I can see the logic that allowing the largest 'bubbles' in will (never mind the money) allow the most people to see the games. This is going to be quite controversial, but I personally think the households who have spent the most on their season tickets should get priority to the first games back. It makes no sense to allow one person who’s bought a ticket in the cheapest area and spent £20 per game for example vs a family of four (or more) in the premium seats who have spent over £100 per game.
