International News After Covid.....

Seriously hoping for a more widespread work from home culture after this. Sometimes you just need to be in the same room to get things properly done there and then, not to mention break up the monotony, but there are already a number of shared space and by the day / hour options available in just about every town and city. Why not pay for what you use, and use what you need, rather than pay through the nose and feel obliged to sit in an office all day, every day?

Wildlife is definitely a lot louder now as well, as strange as that might sound. It isn’t just quieter in general so we can hear them more - it’s definitely both. A few people I’ve spoken to have mentioned things like just how loud the birds are these days, almost like they’ve noticed the change to the world around them and are responding.

I'm fairly certain I heard a Cuckoo the other day and I haven't heard one of them for years which was nice.

  • The fragile condition of the economy will mean any Brexit is likely to be in name only.
  • The illusion that austerity is a necessity, rather than political choice, will be shattered.
  • Government bailouts will mean a multitude of industries under public control which will work just as well, if not better.
We will, therefore, be living in a Corbyn wonderland under Boris' land-slide majority... The Alt-Right's perma-triggered state will eventually break Twatter to the benefit of humanity.

Ha ha, this is trolling in a way but brilliant

I was on a telecon on Friday and was asked if I owned a budgie. The window was open and it was a sparrow outside[emoji1787]

They aren't half noisy. Some make a reasonable sound but we have one that likes our roof, and has modelled its call on the equivalent of scratching nails down a blackboard.

Not being funny @Sarge but, how can a 2 hour drive for a "photoshoot" be considered necessary?
I thought you could go out to work providing that work couldn’t be done from home.
At least that’s the impression I’ve got from the ‘stay at home adverts’

Me too.

A&E admissions and GP appointments are down as people are no longer presenting unnecessarily, it would be nice if this were the new norm.*

*as long as it wasn't used to justify a reduction in government spend

And domestic abuse cases are up by 50%

If it's anything like Perth, the birds are louder because they are hungry as they are not getting all of the scraps and leftovers. My daughter got scratches on her finger and face last week when a kookaburra decided to steal a chip that she was just popping in her mouth (rather than go for the box of them on the grass). On my last day at work I went out to eat my sandwich in the sun, at a place that would normally have loads of picnickers at this time of year and the magpies were well aggressive.

Hate to break it to you Chuckers, but magpies...? Those were cassowaries, mate!

Nah - we don’t need anything as big as cassowaries over here. Even our little birds are bastards. Last spring I got attacked by three different species one day while cycling home: magpie (not unusual), wattlebird (a bit unusual) and a galah (WTF?). Having said that, black swans are way more mellow than white ones.

Get with Corona-Socialism, managed by the Conservatives, ensuring their stay in office will last for decades. Win,win.???

You've got a way with the birds then ?

How the NHS uses technology has under gone a massive change.
GP`s doing video appointments.
Outpatients consultations done remotely.
Tens of thousands of staff working remotely, albeit a bit flaky at times.
Lots of space has been created within departments and offices to enable safe working.
Patients using ipads etc for video/facetime type calls with family.

I hope a lot of it stays and there isn`t slippage back to the old inefficiencies.

Hope you're right. Also hope they link care, social services and NHS with co-operating management and a single funding source.

Sounds easy, won`t happen. Too many boats would get rocked across Councils, CCG`s and local NHS organisations.
The best you can hope for is something like we have ,which is a healthcare alliance across Leicester. Leicestershire & Rutland.

The idea is that aftercare is more local ... you may notice that no local councils are involved..... politics eh? Hot potatoe`s for sale! :ROFLMAO:

The Councils I worked for and had dealings with have long argued these should be in one service within the NHS umbrella. The Social Services Director, Asst Director in charge of Social Care and the managers all wanted it combined.

The same Authority transferred across mental health services to a bespoke specialist NHS Trust, along with other Councils, as I was involved in the process/negotiations.

There have been many articles on a regular basis from all sides you mention saying these services should be combined in Public Finance (a trade magazine).

As long as the NHS allows the almost parochial use of funds on a cascading format then it will remain disjointed.
