Home Match Day Thread +++ 01/02/2020 L1 OUFC V Blackpool FC +++

Massive win!

Browne was excellent through the middle, and showed he's more than capable of being our main striker.

Gorrin was excellent, did all the dirty work and kept things ticking over well. I was concerned when he went down injured, he's such an important player for us.

Thank god for James Henry, showed just how much we've missed his all round quality

Sykes looks like he's bulked up a bit, and is finally physically able to compete at this level, another good display, improving with every game

Sam Long had a great game, amazing commitment, works so hard, solid as a rock defensively, got forward very well, and his crossing was excellent. MOTM

Didn't realise Kelly was so tiny! He also looked a bit podgy, needs to get himself in the gym, along with Thorne, who also looks like he's carrying a bit of extra timber!

Great win though, much needed to raise everyone's spirits, after a tough few days.

Well done Robbo and the lads!

Bring on the Magpies!

Enjoyed today. Battled well and even taking into account Madine's miss*, we created more clear chances to deserve the win.

Marcus Browne after a slow start to the game grew into it and was excellent once he got going.

For me, man of the match was Mark Sykes. He was our creative outlet with some of his close control and tricks just too good for his opponents. Along with Sam Long, most of our attacking play came down the right and they are forming an interesting partnership. The 1st goal definitely came off Mark Sykes.

This leads me on to Sam Long who was very good and his crossing in that 1st half was pretty much always in a dangerous area.

Good Ref for me as well.

Overall enjoyable as it was a win through hard work with some flair, with the bonus of Cam Bran and James Henry being back (and Matty Taylor on the bench).

*Glad it was him as he is an a**e.

?

That emoji just about does it for today's game.

Onwards to knocking Newcastle out of the cup.

Not the best performance but a great win. Brannagan and henry didnt look match sharp but great to see them on the pitch again. Gorrin was fantastic. Our cbs were generally solid but a huge error for their goal not helped by eastwoods poor gk. A word for browne. Super performance. We have all been saying for months we need someone other than mackie up front and glad the penny has dropped for robinson. Good performance as well by sykes. Ruffels despite his moment of madness was pretty solid as was long. Long was decent going forward today which helped unlock pool.

An enjoyable game even if we made some bad errors and tailed off in the second half (understandably given two thirds of our midfield is coming back from injury) and it had the feeling of getting away with it, we still played some good football and could of had a couple more.

Massive win, anything else and with the month ahead of us we would of been really up against it in the play off battle, lovely to see us score twice and a great feeling to get three points, plus having a forward who is a an actual goal threat and can get in behind is a welcome change.

Im just thinking how ironic it’ll be if/when we’re all in meltdown mode come August when its announced that we’ve sold Sam Long for a paltry £3.5M ?

On today's performance any rb we sign wouldn't start in front of long. He was putting in some good crosses and was linking well with Henry and sykes. I'm abit worried we don't have back up though. Hanson isn't the answer.
