General Traffic Management

Lots of football clubs do not allow cars to move until all pedestrians have dispersed, I remember missing our train in our last away game at Blackburn the other year as we jumped on a bus to town, it didn’t move for ages which is why lots of fans of “big clubs” leave with 5 or 10 minutes of the game remaining....
Parking in the overflow car park has always been a nightmare however parking behind the East stand has improved no end with the traffic management however it does fill up rather quickly especially over our last 3 home matches...!
Would be able to fit a lot more in if Kassam would cut back the trees and bushes

So we arrive every home game and park in the car park opposite the bowlplex, despite the muppet who tries to stop us entering the the entrance to the park, never had a problem to find a space, because people are continually leaving the cinema etc and leaving in their cars. So when we parked for the Lincoln game I made a point of going over to him and asking why are you stopping people coming in and he replied because the car park is full, to which I replied that there was at least 40 free spaces, he then started to let people in. I don’t why there isn’t a guy in contact with him by radio patrolling the car park telling him when spaces become available. I have yet to see what the hell any of them are actually doing with their high viz jackets on except yapping to each other and waving their arms about trying to look busy.

The whole thing is a complete joke and doesn’t make any difference whatsoever, think they need to abolish it ASAP.

Just stop the constant crossing by fans at zebra crossing and near roundabout for a short while so vehicles can actually move it would solve a lot of the issues.

Why is it a complete joke? has it had a detrimental affect on you? do you know that it has not improved the general speed that cars can get away from the stadium complex?

I think they are trying to be careful what they do with the mixture of pedestrians and cars at an unofficial crossing! would everyone wait patiently? or cross further down? light touch guidance seems to be the plan at the moment.

Perhaps that nice Mr K, in his revitalised car park maintenance programme and his new plans for a temporary stand, will build a footbridge so he can take us on a journey...

but then again..

I think its working quite well, Saturday i arrived later than normal due to working in the morning, parked near the second roundabout(nearer Watlington Road) after the walk from the stadium i was still on the 34 by 5.20.

Better than it used to be!

But you’ve not parked in the ground?

And the crowd was about 40% smaller!

I did notice on Saturday, there were several yellow circles about 8” across painted on the car park tarmac behind the Jim Smith stand. Could it be something is being done to improve the available parking? Or is it just normal BBL graffiti

In the words of the Mitchell’s Wosssgowinon?

I hope not. That car park generally works fine, with people not being allowed in once it is full, and it empties fairly efficiently. I'm not sure any 'improvement' (apart from some cutting back of the foliage to free up more spaces in some areas) would be an actual improvement.

ZTH
I agree the JSS carpark generally works fine if drivers are unselfish and apply the ‘zipper’ principle. There are still a few who will deliberately close the gap to prevent someone slotting in. I guess they feel it’s a way to gain 12’. No coincidence perhaps that most of them are in beemers.

Getting rid of the foliage would instantly improve matters but you are probably right on the rest though, I will be pleasantly surprised if it is part of a genuine improvement plan.

According to rad ox it was chaos going into the stadium car park last night....my sister who drives my disabled dad and nephew to n from games said the main car park was 'full 'well before 6pm, & that there had been changes (again) to access. She also said it took 30 mins to get out after the game....as was announced also on radio oxford.

Does anyone know who is actually paying for the traffic management, & who is overseeing the running of the current matchday traffic management ?

People must be getting there earlier then! Another decent crowd I was surprised! What was the 'chaos"?

A good turn out by Ipswich on a horrible Evening (no jokes about them being used to ploughed fields ) :)

It may be worth the club communicating in this.
Crowds have been a lot higher recently.
The comparison should be against a comparative crowd without the traffic management as opposed to how it used to be ( and for the first few games of the season the crowd was nearer 6k than 8k.

Oompah loompahs on crack. And they like amber flashy lights - a lot!

We arrived about 6:15 and the east stand had just filled, so we ended up in the dreaded overflow behind the cinema.

Game finished at 10:00pm give or take (we stayed to the end) and we exited onto Grenoble Road at 10:28pm. Last time we were in the overflow, it took that long just to exit our space and another 30 minutes to actually get out, so even though I don't know what they are doing, it does seem to be helping.....

I ended up parking way up Grenoble Road - I'd rather spend 20 minutes walking back to the car and then driving straight off than queuing in that bloody overflow car park.
