It seems so obvious to me what cricket should do:

Get rid of the Hundred.

Get rid of 50 over cricket.

Have T20 cricket as the only short form of the game, with a World Cup as well as short tournaments within a country eg the IPL/something exciting in the UK.

Make Test cricket much more prestigious again. Have some players be test specialists, some be T20 specialists and the odd exceptional one play both formats.

They didn't prepare properly for this competition (we said so on here before it had even started). Whether that's because they didn't really care about the competition, they were arrogant enough to think they didn't need to prepare or they couldn't arrange any proper preparation because of the loopy scheduling of the cricket season, I don't know. It has been (in sporting terms) an unmitigated disaster though, and heads should roll.

Rohit summed up how to win that game post-match - adopt a Test match attitude for 10-15 overs or so - we should do the same, except our Test match attitude is to smash it around. We need some players with game sense.

Australia are hopeless at chasing, their record is abysmal in 50 over games in recent years.

When England went out I lost almost all interest in this WC. When India steamrollered South Africa, a team that had looked pretty decent, I lost the rest.

It's India's to lose. They're the best team in it. I hope they choke but they probably won't.
