Not bad so far, a couple of swaps on the loan front. Like for like on the goalie, and a fit wide player instead of an injured one. Time will tell if they're any good. I'd still like a striker and an attacking MF, but if we get everyone fit then we're not in bad shape.

It’s a good start. We’re certainly not in any way ‘stronger than we were at the start of January’ as was the aim (yet). Burey replaces Edwards, Cumming replaces Beadle. We’re still Mills’ injury down, Perkins loan return away from parity. And we were already unanimous that we didn’t even finish recruiting a striker properly in the summer. (Arguably Gorrin as well, albeit I’m not sure he was ever really that much of a threat to the first team)

But as per Des’ ifollow interview, at least we’re not padding out the bench with academy players and have options in some positions now. Along with Leigh hopefully ready to be eased back in, Long and Negru close behind (and hopefully Murphy resuming his role as an effective cameo player in the later stages of games against tiring defences rather than starting and immediately breaking down again). It’s looking better

2 strikers and a winger (or one proper proven forward and a couple of ‘plays across the front line) would be ideal for me. Dreamland a physical midfielder as proper, robust alternative to the more technical ability of Brannagan, McEachran and McGuane too. Think getting all that done is a bridge too far for January when we’re already paying such high wages for an assortment of players who barely feature.

Probably more positive to say Burey replaced Mills as the winger expected to play decent minutes and I can replace Perkins because I don’t get on the pitch either.

Cumming sirname:

Scottish (of Norman origin): most probably a habitational name from Bosc-Benard-Commin in Eure, France. This place lies on the edge of the Forêt de Rouvray, near Rouen, in the heart of the district from which came numerous Domesday barons, and so is much more likely to be the source of the name than Comines in Nord. The name is also possibly derived from the personal name Cumin, which is found in Norfolk, Lincolnshire, and Yorkshire in the 12th and 13th centuries and may be of Breton origin, according to Reaney. Compare Old Breton Cunmin, which also appears as Cumin, and is from con- ‘hound’ with an uncertain second element, perhaps the min ‘edge’ which is found in other personal names.

Burey sirname:

English (southern): nickname from Middle English burry 'rough, shaggy'. English: alternatively, a topographic name for someone who lived '(by the) borough enclosure', Middle English bur(g)h + hei(e), hai(e) (Old English burg 'borough'+ (ge)hæg 'enclosure').

Bennett sirname:

Bennett is an English surname with Anglo-Norman roots, found in records as early as the 1200s and thought to mostly have a patronymic origin. It refers to someone who was the son or descendant of a person named Benedict. Bennett is the English version of the Norman name 'Benet'.

Some very strong anglo-norman signings.

Postitive thinking indeed.

Stan Mills was available and in the squad for all 25 League games of his loan spell. He started 14 of them and came off the bench in another 7 (unused sub 4 times).

21 games to go. That equates to Burey being permanently available, starting 12 and appearing off the bench in 6.

For what it's worth, I'll be pleasantly suprised if we get anything close to that from him (let alone the 7 goals/assists that this also equates to).

Feel free to bookmark.

How are we pronouncing Burey? Does it rhyme with ‘fury’ or ‘hurry’?

What a thoroughly miserable post. Mills is done in the short term, and hopefully comes back to play at some point but has a long rehabilitation in front of him. Back the signing with a bit of positivity and give a chance rather than finding the sh1te in everything. If football makes you this depressed maybe find a new hobby
