I don’t think we are anywhere near a signing yet. We’re only 79/80 pages into this transfer window thread, we need well into 3 figures based on previous windows. Get typing and make it happen forum members!

Might be my age but I am confused regarding the Edwards situation.
It has been stated that that his agreement has been terminated but is staying with us for rehab.
Some are saying they hope he returns to the squad to play in the near future.
Surely we cannot play him again unless we re-sign him which would not be possible once the January window closes.

As he is not likely to play again for a while, it would make sense for Ipswich to pay up all or most of his contract so that he is a free agent.
He can come to us and do rehab, and then if he regains fitness we can sign him on a short term deal.

Bloody tricky thing to do, even with a mirror. Don't use a 2H pencil is my advice for any of you planning to try this at home.
I once bought a rare pencil at a car boot sale, the seller convinced me it used to belong to William Shakespeare. Trouble is, he’d chewn the end so badly I couldn’t tell if it was a 2B or not 2B.

All the movers and shakers post on here.

Grant Ferguson = Scotch Egg
Tim Williams = Great uncle Kip
Des Buckingham = Werthers Original
Chris Hackett = Bazzer
Ed Waldron = Scrongo

A few others but I haven’t figured out who is Craig Short yet.

Had Yellows Forum has turned in to The Traitors 😂

That's not concerning, that's the January window in a nutshell.

I don't know why fans are so against loans and look down on them over permanent transfers in the winter window. January is the perfect time for loans instead of permanents. The prices for a permanent transfer are far higher in January and that's if the player is even for sale at all. Clubs do not want to lose their best players when they have something to play for, and they also don't want to let go those who might be needed in case of injuries. It's a good chance for signing players with 6 months left on their contract for a smaller fee before the rest battle it out for them in the summer as a free agent, that's the smart permanent business you can do but that's a small pool of players.

Loans are low risk high reward and often give you an opportunity to sign them permanently if the player enjoys his time here, yet if he's garbage you aren't stuck with them for the next 2-3 years. It's a short window with a lot of players to sign whilst we have a ton of injuries and recalls to deal with. I don't think we even have time to be bidding till the last day for permanents when decent players are available on loan.

Exactly this.

Noone is out of contract in January, so the only players you're going to get on a permanent transfer are those that either a) You overpay for, or b) Are surplus to requirements to their current club. So almost always high-risk signings, though they can sometimes come off - Cam being our brightest example.

Loans are often the way to go for January.....and the upside of the otherwise pretty rubbish week we've had with injury/transfer news is that we've now got four slots available.

Certainly not the assistant Des needed based on in-game evidence, he needed someone who's really been through the ringer in the EFL with some contacts. Can't imagine for a second he was the one he wanted, but the one he's now got. You can't possibly look at that situation and think all is well, a problem has emerged somewhere since Des' arrival. You don't make an expensive, long term appointment like Buckingham and follow it up with that 8 weeks later. When cost-cutting short-termism like this starts to creep in, it's very ominous and screams out that the belt has tightened for the time being.

@Swaby39 I’ve been saying the purse strings have been tightened. Nobody cares to listen.

You remember last time, when I was right about things at the club, and I constantly got slated. I was right all along, and I think I’m right once again sadly.

This was a golden opportunity to achieve something this season, as there isn’t any club that is standing out screaming promotion.

We won’t be spending much in terms of fee’s for players. We will be looking at loans, which is why we are waiting ie domino effect.
