Other European European Super League one step closer?

Yes. And the ESL are the founding clubs.
So the clubs remaining could well picked the money?
The entire thing was only set up so that the financially crippled clubs like Real and Barca could try to leech off the Premier League vicariously, so it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s something that means they now get to pocket the fines.

It appears that those who remain will be the beneficiaries of said fines.
Haha what a great con by those staying, hope the fines are £500m, looks to be $360m each? G Neville said he hopes the fines for leaving are huge.

This could have some serious implications for the 10 who have left. If there really is a c.£275m fine per club for leaving which is enforceable, then that is a serious burden on them. Spurs have a stadium to pay for and this fine would be badly timed. Would the £2.75bn (if enforced and paid) go to Barca and Real Madrid as the only remoaners? Would they have to form an ESL league of just 2 teams or a ESL of them + some also rans who can be persuaded to join them so that Barca/RM can receive the compensation on the basis that if they don't form an ESL and instead play in La Liga next year, they have left the ESL themselves?

I don't really see how the owners could now try to rejoin or table anything that resembles the ESL. The clear reaction from fans across the board and players/politicians/most managers was one that forced owners to put up unprecedented videos apologizing for their actions. Let's see how they try to squirm out of paying these fines now - lovely stuff.

If the money from the fines for leaving the ESL all go to Florentino Perez, then I guess that is all part of the masterplan. That sort of money would go a long way towards ponying up the cash to buy Mbappe and Haaland.

The remaining contracted members of the ESL could take it to court for breach of contract.

Maybe those who signed up should have read the small print? :)

If Real Madrid and whoever is behind this fancy a drawn out legal battle with the financial muscle of Abu Dhabi then fair enough, I am pretty certain who can afford the better lawyers and to drag out forever though.

To quote Gary Neville 'I hope they all end up eating each other'. The inevitable legal battle is an ESL competition that I will watch with interest!
