National News Covidiots.....

If the jocks got their independence I would hope the that the U.K. government would take back everything from the jocks which we gave them stop all money and subsidies we give them, give them back their army but nothing else, then watch the tanks try to muscle in on our former military bases in Scotland, oh and take the sterling from hem immediately and let them get their own currency.
Point of order Baz: the UK includes Scotland. If Scotland became a separate sovereign country the UK would no longer exist, so there wouldn't be a UK government to take back anything from anyone.

Separate point: surely, when it was part of the UK, Scotland was entitled to subsidies and other government aid proportionate to its share of the UK population. Should Scotland become independent these would stop, of course, so not sure why the point needs to be made.

And tanks muscling in on our former military bases? Might need to explain that.

the first fish tried ( Salmon ) once in a generation, the second fish is trying ( Sturgeon ) but she can’t get to grips what a generation is. Plus the long awaited fall out that may start next month when Alex Salmon gives evidence in an enquiry which could upset the SNP.
Soon it will be just little weeny winky England on its own - and all because twats voted Tory!!

Ok England/NI/Wales we will stop the subsidies and no we won’t roll our tanks up to the former military bases the Dragoon’s and pipes platoons can have the military bases, I’m afraid their navel fleet would be made up of yachts and motor launches and the rowing boats in the parks. Their airforce will be when they’ve built the planes......unless of course they’re going to follow Switzerland and become neutral.

Septic tanks, methinks.

Also, as a staunch onionist, I must shout at ye that the United Kindom would still be extant - The United Kingdom of Little England and Norn Iron Nil. That the two provinces of this 'mighty nation' are separated by customs borders matter not!

Well the Scots have always been a peace-loving nation. Can't think of a single example in history of the tribes / clans within the present borders of Scotland fighting anybody without just cause*. They were just defending themselves against the evil English, which is effectively what Nicola is trying to do now.

* Forget 'Braveheart' as I'm not sure that actually happened. And Bonny Prince Charlie was more a French homosexual than a freedom fighter anyway. **

** Nothing against the French, by the way. Or homosexuals for that matter. But put them together ....

Spent a happy hour on a fans messafebpard once, reading celtic and rangers fans arguing whether bonnie Prince Charlie really was Catholic

Which would be a perfectly fair and reasonable point if he hadn't gone through with our own removal from a union instead of a 6-12 month extension to the transition while things calm down. At least now the Brexit job losses can be lumped in with the Covid ones.
Jesus, Brexit again....
Boris didn’t ask, a deal was done, Brexit is (being) done. Let’s not go there again.

What I don't get is how Jacob Rees-Mogg can admit we won't know the effects of Brexit for perhaps 50 years ....

.... yet still be an avid advocate of Brexit. Life outside the EU may prove to be a panacea, or it may prove disastrous for British trade and British jobs. If we won't know until J R-M (and many of us) are long gone why can't we admit it's a risk? And if we admit it's a risk, is it a risk worth taking?

Ha, In fifty years we’ll probably have rejoined and left again!

Yep, let the North Britons get on with it, it's not like they want to drag us into something we don't want :)

So Boris should let Scotland have another referendum then.
I really don’t care either way, but now is not the time to bang on about another vote when there’s a global pandemic going on. There undoubtedly will be another vote one day but can they honestly say it’s as or more important than ending a pandemic?
The Covid response would be diluted as people’s attention, finances and resources, are committed to holding another referendum.
That once in a generation opportunity needs to happen while Sturgeon‘s still popular though, otherwise it could be another long wait.
