Home Match Day Thread +++ 23/12/2017 OUFC v Wigan Athletic match day thread +++

Would love to know what Pep said at half time. To concede 4 more after being 3 down is downright laughable.

Don't worry we as long as we still have fokkus and the players are learning we can do the same thing again and again after all it's not results that get you promoted is it. Seriously this is like Pattos "honest bunch of lads" moments and really Pep needs to start heading the same way.

You know MGLB, I thought that too. Patto all over again, this. It's b--locks. Utter b--locks and you look through the side and it's just these p-ss poor makeweight's he's brought in that aren't good enough and that he's making excuses for.

Good coach, poor manager.

Some people just are. Appleton at least developed into a manager. We’re going to have to see a lot from Pep in order for him to change that though.

I can’t see him doing an Appleton after the 5-1 against Cambridge and ending a few Oxford careers though. We just don’t have the resources now for that.

hmm! Pep says it is a young team, I beg to differ.

Eastwood, Tiendali, Mous', Williamson, Silva, Henry, Thomas. All senior pro's. 7 out of the starting 11 are late 20's early 30's.

Even Patto shredded the team on at least one occasion...to the point where Jerome was speechless for a second. Remember it well.

Anyway, don't let it spoil your Chrimbo mate...hugs to you and the missus.

...although he then decided he didn't wanna be one.

I would love us to have a winger like their 11. He was literally walking around us second half

Pep talks complete shite as well, does he really think we buy into the standard sound bites?

In miigation, Wigan have some absolutely superb players for this level, similar to Blackburn.

Our cheaply cobbled together collection of Waifs and Strays were made to look very poor indeed. Hopefully people can see now that we really arent that great. Its a very poor league with a couple of exceptions. Hence our position.

To those who said they had no qualms Dunkley leaving as we had upgraded with Williamson. Lol.

Well that was horrible. I left at 0-6 thinking this is going to be double figures.

Xemi and Tiendalli first half were awful.

Totally out battled in the midfield and out played.

Back 4 ponderous and slow.

Not surprised we’ve suffered an embarrassing defeat, think it’s been coming.

As I’ve said before I’ll be relieved if (and when ) we reach 50 plus points, seriously.

I think our league position flatters us this season, and this result was coming.

The thing that frustrates me the most is that Pep inherited a strong, hard working, 'together' squad, who were consistently playing good football, and going out to win games. As others have called out, we've taken a big step backwards.

The lack of work ethic, desire and negative tactics are infuriating for fans, and are not acceptable. The worry is that these traits are becoming consistent in our performances.

Happy to be proved wrong, but I don't believe Pep is going to take us forward. He doesn't install confidence in fans, but more importantly, the players. He was placed well as an assistance manager.

After a 7-0 defeat, do people genuinely believe a manager coming out in public and slating the players is likely to improve matters for gillingham?

Of course today’s performance wasn’t good enough, but I don’t think that public flogging of players is ever going to help.

Now, if behind closed doors it’s the same we may have an issue, without knowing either way I’d like to think it isn’t.

Also, slagging off players does nothing to help improve performances if there isn’t a construct Ben edge to it, e.g. reasons why that individual/the team was so bad and ways of addressing the issues which caused the result.

Someone above states he has no passion, passion Isn’t just about ranting and raving to appease the fans. Di Canio is widely considered a moron on here yet he displayed enough passion to cover 4/5 other managers and where did they ultimately get him.

The players can’t be as bad as others have suggested on here above, if they really were of the quality to lose 7-0 then they would not have gained the number of points that they have done so far.

What’s important now is that the reasons for the defeat, and I am sure these are numerous, are addressed and this isn’t allowed to happen again.

If the management team and players don’t have either the ability or will to ensure it doesnt happen again, that’s when you need to consider changes in personnel both on and off the pitch.
