Potential New Ground

Try building anything on top of the existing stadium and, it will collapse. Sorry EY but, it just won't work.

Think big man!

See it like knocking down a 1940`s bungalow to build a 7 bedroomed detached residence. :)

Can start at the Fence End and work round ..... and still play there for four seasons.

The space is there, the customers are on the doorstep.......... more chimney pots going up over the road....... its the future.

Where's the profit? Where's the return on the investment?

And, much like a 1940's bungalow, where are the foundations? The existing foundations (including the one's buried at the fence end) are not substantive enough for anything bigger. So, knock it all down and start over? Stand by stand? The cost would be prohibitive. Sorry, ain't happening.

It was in the plans for north stand to have a second tier when required which is why the roof is so high.

No it's not or at least not with the current Board and if they get fed up and go, we're be worrying about having a football club rather than where any stadium might be/if the Kassam could be developed

Why would they get fed up and go?
The lady thing they said a couple of weeks ago is that they hope that the takeover will be complete by the end of the transfer window.

Round these parts you can pick up a "in need of improvement" bungalow on a largish plot for £180-£250k.
Flatten it & rebuild a nice 5 bed detached, build cost around £380-£400k, you are looking at selling at £850-£900k

Minimum £200k in the bank less tax etc.

“ Before the end of the transfer window “ which makes me wonder whether they’ve got a marquee signing lined up if it is completed before the end of the transfer window

Where is the profit in building a stadium elsewhere if there isn't land to develop around the stadium?

Also retail/leisure demand has died since the pandemic so building houses/flats around the stadium is the only way to be sure the money men make a quick buck.

The real money is to be made from the global brand especially Asia etc and sponsorship deals. At some point the board may decide to buy the kassam and renovate/rebuild . Sure there wouldn't be any profit until they sold the lot on to the next billionaire but atleast we would have full control of the stadium and the money that can be generated on matchdays.

No chance

No chance

When a billionaire buys a Premier league club they buy the stadium with the club and it transfers to the new owner. The problem we are in is that dick Merry agreed to buy us without the stadium. If the board buy the stadium and renovate it when they come to sell us they sell the stadium too meaning they get their money back. There is more money to be made with us then just buying a bit of land and building an uninspiring bowl surrounded by apartment blocks. The global brand Oxford is already there for them to propel, pump money in and take us to the Premier league and they could sell us off making millions of profit.

Knock down the kassam and rebuild. Laughable is being polite. Billionaires have not brought OUFC to try and make their money/profit from the football club. Even a new stadium probably isn't worth the bother. This is bound to be part of a much bigger project plan. There can be no other conclusion. It will have to potentially return multi-millions otherwise they just won't bother. Whether it eventually comes to fruition or falls down at any development stage is another matter.

Have you seen what these guys do?
There is no chance they will be happy with the Kassam

Exactly. I can’t imagine people with their level of wealth would bother to get so heavily involved with a little league one club, to just revamp a shitty old ground, they will have big plans, otherwise what’s the point.

They ain’t Mickey Mouse money men, they’re big dogs, who will mean business.

Hopefully!

They’ll be looking at a stadium deal that includes land to develop other things around it.

Added to that there’s also the prospect that they’ll get us stabilised in the championship (or beyond) and they’ll sell the club on for a small profit, whilst retaining the land.

Has any owner of any club ever managed this?

If post-takeover, significant barriers were put in their way by Councils/appeals etc., they could potentially get fed up and take their investment elsewhere. Unlikely imho but always a possibility.

The point I was trying to make is that this consortium have no interest whatsoever in developing the Kassam and so talk of it on this forum is a waste of time. If they (for whatever reason) were to move on, then talk about any stadium development whether new or at the existing site would become moot as the survival of the club would be front and centre.
