Is this land deal the pocket of land that is beneath The Kassam Stadium?

Just the bits with the corner flags. They're looking to add more week by week building into a fantastic collection like those random magazine things!!!

Ah, build a stadium in just 500 issues. Get your corner flags now for 99p (introductory price, following issues £100,000 each). That kind of thing?

Sorry, I missed the point where Oxford United owned the site, agreed planning permission for any changes which would undoubtedly be needed and were able to do this all without funding?

Buy site, demolish, rebuild, expand.

It only takes their loose change to buy FK out.

The King Power was built all of 700 yards from Filbert Street that is now a "student village".

Look at the footprints..... Kassam above, King Power below....

Buy land, build from scratch including purpose built additional retail and leisure units - and let someone else pay for the knocking down of the existing site.

It will still be done with loose change of those involved, but the opportunity to recoup expenditure will be significantly greater.

The King Power is great, but not relevant to our situation.

Exactly, it would be cheaper and easier to rebuild on Grenoble Road then a new parcel of land. There isn't the money to be made from leisure facilities anymore and it's doubtful housing / flats will be granted on a greenfield site.

Interesting to see that, instead of building a new stadium, Portsmouth are going to extend and improve Fratton Park which is a bigger dump than people say the Kassam is. They obviously don't know what they are doing?
Er they own the stadium.
And they don't have the owners we do.
So they might know what they are doing but that doesn't mean that our owners don't.

When the yank came in he said he was investing 10 million but that was for the stadium

Most takeovers include the transfer of the stadium to the new owners and its becoming less common for a club itself to own the stadium. So I wouldn't put it past Erick and Co to be in discussion with Kassam about buying the stadium. Obviously it would be easier to build a new stadium on a new piece of land but then again how long would that take and how much more money to achieve while still funding a club making a loss every year?

People say retail and leisure will bring in the cash, but we already have the Westgate with countless shops, bars, restaurants, 4 x cinemas in Oxford , Bicester village, a water park resort being built in Bicester, loads of hotels being built around the city. Do we need anymore? Don't forget when kassam developed the ozone there was a real lack in leisure facilities in Oxfordshire, there isn't now.

This is a good point that everyone is avoiding- what would the fabled leisure facilities around the new stadium be? No one wants crappy chain restaurants or big shops in an out of town setting. I can imagine moving the ice rink to the new ground and freeing up town centre space, but otherwise what is wanted is housing , and I don’t know how compatible that is with a sports stadium.
