Because all the medical advice is against stopping sporting events and in April the coronavirus will be much much worse. Why?
it’s disappointing but is the right thing to do. It’s just a leisure pursuit that can be stopped for now while some more essential activities and travel are allowed to continueWhat a bunch of clowns at the EFL.
Elite football postponed? Swindon should be OK then...Double confirmed.British football suspended until 3 April
All elite football in Britain is suspended until at least 3 April as a result of the spread of coronavirus.www.bbc.co.uk
Let the uproar begin.
Yes yes yes but what are we going to do instead?!it’s disappointing but is the right thing to do. It’s just a leisure pursuit that can be stopped for now while some more essential activities and travel are allowed to continue
it's a knee-jerk grand gesture that doesn't have any meaningful effect on the spread of coronavirus. I agree with the "bunch of clowns" assessment.it’s disappointing but is the right thing to do. What’s the highest level of local football that will continue?Yes yes yes but what are we going to do instead?!
That is entirely incorrect though if you listen to the medical experts.it’s disappointing but is the right thing to do. It’s just a leisure pursuit that can be stopped for now while some more essential activities and travel are allowed to continue
Suspend all sporting events in April as well then, but in the meantime, the virus is spreading right now, and they can't just let people keep turning up in their thousands to stadiums, using public transport, sitting in pubs and restaurants before games, whilst members of the public, players, managers and staff continue getting infected, it's madness.Because all the medical advice is against stopping sporting events and in April the coronavirus will be much much worse.
Good point - but if a couple of thousand start turning up to Brackley or Oxford City it won't be long before those leagues are suspended as well! What’s the highest level of local football that will continue?
I think it could be the end of the season, how are clubs going to start up again in April if the disease is still spreading, just taking the football side in the equation how many players or their families going to be affected, ground and stadium staff to run the clubs, this is only the first step before a bigger shutdown.Suspend all sporting events in April as well then, but in the meantime, the virus is spreading right now, and they can't just let people keep turning up in their thousands to stadiums, using public transport, sitting in pubs and restaurants before games, whilst members of the public, players, managers and staff continue getting infected, it's madness.
Unfortunately, now is the right time to stop, and not start again until it's safe to do so, big shame, but better safe than sorry.
As much as we all love it, at the end of the day, it's only sport, the health and safety of the whole of society is much more important.
