I want to start a different thread to get people's views. There are so many complications about finishing this season and if/how even next season will look like or exist at all.

So imagine for 1 season there is a break from the current format for us and British football, what would you like for this one season? Only stipulation is all games are on TV/Streamed and no crowds at Stadium?

Digressing slightly.

If it goes tits up and a lot of clubs go bankrupt, what about;

1) League of 2 with remaining teams, Premiership and Championship

then

2) Additional new structure of 2 leagues deriving of Counties?

Stoke and Vale fans all rallying behind Staffordshire..?

Hartlepool and Darlo all on the same train to an away match in Essex (Southend and Colchester combined)...?

Would be a braver man than I that gives THAT the hard sell!

Initially games would be played behind closed doors. Also depends whether Southend/Colchester were still in existence..

So will pose another question, Oxford City and United go bust and no longer exist, who would people support?

Alternative playoff system to sort out promotion and relegation for this time round, which will put more weight behind those teams who finished a number of points ahead of the others...

Basically instead of the best against worst setup (eg 3 v 6 , 4 v 5), games work their way in from each end, with each result sending a team up or down (eg 1 v 2, …. 7 v 8). Furthermore, you could also give teams a number of goals head start if they finished 'x' points ahead of their opponents, say 1 goal for every 3/4 pts.
Also, the teams involved could be determined by how close to the highest placed side they finished (eg any more than 10 points behind 1st or 2nd are excluded)

The main advantage is that those teams who finished higher get a greater chance of going up, rather than the situation we often see in the current playoff setup where a team misses out on the autos by a fraction, then gets turned over by a team that finished 15-20 points further back but snuck into the final spot on the last day. This would allow them a chance to pick themselves up and go again.

The other main advantage is that every game (bar one) has a terminal consequence for one club (either up or down) so has that jeopardy that TV loves.

For example (L1 promotion playoffs, based on straight PPG)

Game 1 - Ports (5) v Sund (8) - loser stays down
Game 2 - Fleet (6) v P'bro (7) - loser stays down

Game 3 - Cov (1) v Roth (2) - winner promoted
Game 4 - Wyc (3) v Oxf (4) -

Game 5 - Winner G1 v Winner G2 - loser stays down
Game 6 - Loser G3 v Winner G4 - winner promoted

Game 7 - Loser G4 v Winner G5 - loser stays down

Game 8 - Loser G6 v Winner G7 - winner promoted, loser stays down

- - [3]Cov (w - up)
- - Roth (l)
- - - - - - [6] Roth (w - up)
- - - - - - Oxf (l)
- - [4]Wyc (l) - - - - - [8] Oxf (w - up)
- - Oxf (w) - - - - - Fleet (l - down)
- - - - - - [7] Wyc (l - down)
- - - - - - Fleet (w)
[1] Ports (w)
Sund (l - down)
- - - - [5]Ports (l - down)
- - - - Fleet (w)
[2[ Fleet (w)
P'bro (l -down)
