very lenient with his yellow cards, handled the game reasonably well - something of a 'lucky' omen for us , 7 from me ( would've been 8 but not giving us a pen( 3 shouts) - Goodwins the best of them cost him 1 )

A workmanlike performance. However, Vale have some very unpleasant individuals who were not shy, again, in delving into the dark arts and this went unpunished. Brannagan was on the end of a few fouls that could have merited a card. Browne was also on the end of a "clumsy" challenge.

Agree with the previous posters. He was steady, but (for a ref who is supposed to be fairly card-happy) he failed to protect players against some fairly agricultural challenges. I don't like to see cards given out willy-nilly, but there are some occasions when you *have* to get them out or things can get nasty.

Though he had a good game apart from blowing up and giving us a free kick when Leigh had a great chance in the second half. One of the better ones

He tried to play advantage but there was an offside (Harris?) in the build up play, so he went back to the original free kick.
He seemed reluctant to show a card, however at least he was consistent with it.
