Full time Cheltenham 1-2 Lincoln

Only ourselves to blame.
two weeks ago I'd have said it was entirely in Lincoln's hands to make the play-offs. win their easy games and beat us.

So they got lucky with us dropping points last night.

it works both ways.

Personally i think if we'd by some miracle got promoted, next season in the championship would have been a disaster.Clearly the team and manager are no where near championship standard and would have been the whipping boys next season.Giving
Buckingham the job was a huge mistake,he needed a DOF to help out.

Simple now we have to win at Exeter anything less it's season over .. Lincoln were always going to win against Cheltenham but that Blackpool result could be huge if Barnsley can't get a result against Northampton because if we won Barnsley also have to win .

It's up to Des and the boys now to show if they have what it takes to be considered promotion material
I think they've already shown they haven't got what it takes...sadly

I’d rather that we had to win to get into playoffs rather than needing a point. Think
Barnsley are the weak link. Their current form is woeful, It’ll be a crazy nail biter next Saturday.

Call it 45-55 we’ll get there.

Going to defend Des here. Players should take some blame too, especially the last 2 games. How many chances did we squander last night and in previous games? That's why we have bottled the play offs.

I'm not expecting any favours from Northampton and Portsmouth and even if we got them, I can't see us getting a result away at Exeter anyway. 3 home games in a row was the chance and all we really needed was to avoid losing to Lincoln and we failed. Our second chance was to simply beat Stevenage and we didn't do that either. Aside from 3 excellent wins in a row, we've not really looked like cementing a playoff spot at all this calendar year and you have to feel that teams like Lincoln are going in with the right form. Our best bet is probably overtaking Barnsley if anything but even that requires things to go our way.

Disappointing, but we knew we had to beat Exeter on the final day after last night. Hoping for a favour from Mous and Portsmouth, but if not then all focus goes on building the side to go one or two better next season.

To use your words
I wouldn't want you next to me in the trenches.....

There’s always a chance of course that, being in the Championship, we’d sign a load of better players?

Certainly. Start by getting the Cheltenham goalkeeper, he was great again today and was born in Oxford. Cheltenham nearly relegated is the best news from today I can't stand them.

If Lincoln do make the playoffs and not us I hope they go up and do a Wycombe. We can swap places with them in 12 months on their way back down and in the meantime we'll have bigger games against the other playoff sides next season.

So, three points cover four teams with two places up for grabs
  • Barnsley host Northampton - they need a win have only managed one point from their last five games. Their confidence must be in bits at the moment but can the Cobblers take advantage?
  • Lincoln finish with the Champions at home - Pompey are definitely good enough to beat Lincoln and will want to finish with a flourish after losing today but Lincoln know a win does it for them.
  • Blackpool go to Reading - the Biscuitmen have been on a bit of a revival and have held Lincoln and Barnsley this month. Wouldn't be surprised if they share the points or better but the Seasiders have to go all out for the win to stand any chance of being in the top 6.
A win for us and both Barnsley and Lincoln must also win to keep us below the dotted line. Barnsley must match or better our result to stay above us. If we only draw, Blackpool could leapfrog us with a win. If all three of our rivals lose, we only need a point at Exeter.

Who said football was boring.....

Good...so Bollockpool only increased their GD by 1

The only way we can end up level with Blackpool is if they draw on Saturday, and we lose, and then we finish 7th and 8th.

It didn't matter whether they won by 1 goal or 45......the important thing was that they won, and therefore we now have two chances as long as we win against Exeter.
