Away Match Day Thread +++ 17/09/19 L1: Bolton Wanderers v OUFC +++

Fosu looks like our only player with any spark, but it's frustrating how easily he goes to ground. Lucky not to be booked for one dive in particular.

Glad to hear that. Once we're 4-0 up, I hope he gets a consolation goal in the 91st minute.
We will be lucky to win 1-0. They should be 2 or 3 - 0 up. Our only decent chance has bern a fosu penalty claim and taylor miscontrolling the ball when through on goal

The two fullbacks have been at sixes and sevens
Neither of them are naturally full backs. They’re both midfielders who people have been trying to convert to full backs. Sometimes that really shows - you can’t just learn everything that actual full backs spend their entire football education developing.

Fingers crossed for a massively improved second half. Come on, you shits.

Woodburn and Dickie for me have been great in terms of effort but our full backs? If we have the best goalie and central defender we’ve definitely got the worst full backs. League 2 standard at best. Henry been off it as has Gorrin and Brannagan

The two fullbacks have been at sixes and sevens, Gorrin is also a bit of a concern, wins the ball then gives it away again too cheaply.

At least Gorrin is winning the ball before giving it away cheaply.
I can forgive a defensive midfielder for the occasional misplaced pass as long as he's getting stuck in.
Most of the rest of our forwards have been misplacing passes just as badly, and not putting in the same amount of work......

Now Shotton’s just given us the kiss of death with that comment about us getting all 3 points!

Woodburn looks dangerous when he gets on the ball. Trouble is we're not getting it to him enough. Fosu is trying to make things happen, but has lost the ball a fair few times. Less said the better about the rest.

Yo can have all the tactics, analysis, game plan, whatever in the world, but the great thing about football is that sometimes it just comes down to sheer, unscientific, inexplicable momentum. Bolton have that at the moment. We've fashioned a couple of decent chances but they are running absolutely rampant going forward. We are very lucky to not be down. Fosu seems to be the only player capable and willing to do anything to address this, but our midfield is otherwise non-existent.

All that said, I expect us to do far better in the second half as they inevitably tire, but, looking at the wider picture, this is without doubt an unusual game. I don't think it's evidence that this team is crap - we're just being generally outplayed by a team riding high on a fired up crowd and environment.
At what point do you concede that were just crap? The league table and evidence tonight suggests it to be honest.
