Fantastic, he's never let me down in the past. That crossfire game he sourced for me back in the 1970s where you had guns that fired ball bearings at a 'ball' was epic. He'll have us a sparkly new fullback in next to no time.

What if we have been naughty instead of nice?

Something I noticed on Tuesday with Eastwood is that his distribution isn't as bad as people make it out to be, but rather when he does kick it forwards, our players are incapable of winning the header, or don't attempt to challenge for it at all. I will agree he isn't comfortable with the ball at his feet.

Maybe Jack gets a reprieve when our players don't challenge for his long kicks, as the opposition don't challenge for it either. His just go straight out of play.

It was notably better on Tuesday following a really bad time of it at Rovers where virtually nothing stayed on the pitch.

I think Eastwoods kicking is just that, inconsistent. Makes it difficult to build from the back. Doesn't have the ability / confidence to chip a ball out to the full back over the striker so punts long instead to avoid making an error. Unfortunately for us it ends up with Taylor, Bodin or Henry trying to win a header.

Did you notice when Brown came on Eastwood had a target and found him 2/3 times not only that but Brown won all those headers and we created something. Joseph also won a header out on the left
When the ball is hit in the centre or right we won nothing.
The same happened in the MK Dons game last year when Brown won 5/6 headers
I think if Eastwood has a definite target man he is better

Lewis Bate played well in his cameo against Cambridge, had flashes of Quality against Swansea, yet we're going to write him off for one bad game against Lincoln.

McGinty had a dodgy debut, I trust those calling out Bate for the one game are hoping McGinty doesn't start tomorrow too?

We absolutely can't write off Bate after one bad game......

......but equally, I don't think we can start him on Saturday either. He looked so off-the-pace against Lincoln that I think he needs some sub appearances, and maybe a couple of Pizza Trophy games to get his confidence back and get used to the pace of League One football. He wouldn't be getting the rave reviews from Leeds fans if there wasn't a player there, but he clearly needs time and needs to be introduced gradually.

Which means, if we want to play a pure 4-3-3 right now, we have to either start Gorrin or sign another central midfielder (preferably one with some size and power)
We can't play 3-5-2 until we sign someone who can play RWB (and we'll need another striker then for depth as well).
I guess 4-2-3-1 is still on the table, even though it reduces the attacking influence of our two best players, although we're running short on wingers even for that.

In short, KR and his team have to decide what formation they're going to prioritize and sign 3-4 players in the next 12 days who can make it work.

The problem is also compounded by the fact that neither Moore or Findlay are able to bring the ball out of defence like Dickie, Atkinson or McNally. It's a major deficiency in today's game.

Karl doesn't draw up the contracts and he didn't give Brannagan his payrise either. Remember Karl wanted to sign Defoe in January and agreed terms with him only for someone within the club to pull the plug on the deal.
So Robinson is 100% responsible for signing bad players or those with injuries, but the club extended the contracts of Stevens and Brannagan?

There's some absolute shite on this thread lately, but at least most have the decency to stick to one narrative rather than changing it to suit!

I agree about Eastwood.

His distribution with the ball at his feet, when he's got the time to line everything up (goal kick, free kick or a backpass with plenty of time) is pretty good. He can get a good distance, hit an area of the pitch pretty well and even alter the type of delivery (flatter/loopier etc). It is much better than people make out and much better than Stevens' in this regard.

If he has to deal with a backpass quickly and under any sort of pressure then it's a different story, and Stevens was always better at this.

I still don't think we lose anything by giving McGinty a go. Surely he's been signed with a view to becoming number 1 and tomorrow is the ideal situation to get him more experience in a home fixture against a team who should be down there at the end of the season.

I don't expect others to be as positive as I am, but christ, this is a miserable place right now!!
To be fair Scotchers, as far as OUFC is concerned there’s not a lot to be cheerful about right now is there? So it’s hardly surprising the threads are of a miserable nature!

Give us 3 or 4 positive things that have happened over the last couple of weeks or squad positives and perhaps some will cheer up, or at least can have a chuckle!

1. Football is back.
2. MK and Wycombe are also having a mare.
3. Swindon are still in league 2.
4. I always have a £1 outside bet on goal scorers and won with both Tyler and Gorrin! (Have gone with Findlay tomorrow!)
5. Things can only get better.

Fair enough, I’ll bring the tone back down then:

1. Wish it wasn’t
2. Don’t really care about them
3. Shame not in conference
4. Why didn’t you tip Tyler and Gorrin to the forum
5. They could get worse

There, I’m having a laugh and feel better already. Thanks Scotchers 👍😂
