Just to be clear, no issue at all with Taylor. Guys a gem. We have played his anti-game so far this season (hoof it up and ask him to chase) so it's no surprise to see him struggling.

It's just clear that we are putting a lot of eggs in his basket again and that talk of new strikers is utter guff (like most things this window)
We have three, do we need more? It would be nice but maybe not essential.

I don't think the board are unhappy with him, also I think they would approve big money signings still, but only with the approval of other areas of the club (head of scouting, recruitment etc).
Genuine question, who is our head of scouting? And who makes up our recruitment team?

Because we couldnt guarantee as much game time is what i heard which sounds fair enough.
As things turned out he would have played in all 3 league games for us so far 😀
For whatever reason it dispels the fact that we didn’t want him, we did but he chose MK

Reasonable enough squad player that has his moments but they don`t happen often enough.
Do you seriously rate him that much ?

Yea maybe, competiton for that starting spot is going to be something else if we get another striker in and when Baldock is back...
The worry is of course, how many games before Sam Baldock is out again. He was great with Taylor in his games last season, but we all knew he could breakdown at anytime, a striker and at least a fullback that should have been lined up and the very first signings at the start of the window.

Personally, I would love to see Joseph and Taylor play up front, Joseph winning a few flick-on's for Taylor to pounce on.

Three at the back with Brown, Findlay and Moore. Sedds and Long as wing backs FOR NOW.

Moore.............Findlay.............Brown

Long...........................Mcguane............................Seddon

Browne......................Brannagan

I posted the below back in March re Baldock. His minutes have been pretty ropey to say the least for the last half a decade. Maybe he will buck the trend and stay fit once he’s back from his current injury but we should be merely hoping for that rather than banking on it.

Baldock’s minutes played stats for the last five years make for fairly grim reading. Winnall played more minutes than he did last season. Sure, he’s been in the Championship, but even his basic appearances column is pretty ropey. He’s barely averaged 1,000 minutes of football per season across the last half a decade - around 1,040. 5,200-odd minutes total since August 2017. For context, Matty Taylor has played nearly 6,700 minutes in the last 18 months alone. If Baldock could manage 30 appearances per season let alone nearer 40, he wouldn’t be at this level. He picks up lots of knocks and strains and has done for a good few years. At 32 (33 next week) that wasn’t going to change - you’re getting a quality striker but he will only be available 50% of the time.

Yes, but unlike Winnall, at least when Baldock does play he has more of a meaningful impact.

I think @RyanioBirdio is in agreement that we maybe sign the likes of Baldock, as you say, he's done well, but that we do so with the expectation that he isn't a reliable backup, and a bit of a luxury. Unfortunately we seem to sign some of these injury ravaged players as starters expecting a miracle, plus with squad limits now, there is only so many of these players you can accommodate before it hampers your squad strength in depth (seem familiar?)

Lunch time question for us all - who are the players with concerning injury histories that we've signed and have worked out the best?

Suspect it could be my memory but seems most of them struggle to shake the injuries, or they're not the player they once were.

I must be forgetting some/plenty.
Hughie Curran first time around.
Wolves had virtually written him off because of his knee injury.
Came here scored on his debut against Millwall. Scored around 1 in every 3 overall.
And of course the legend Dave Langan. Best right back we have ever had.
