I am gutted Cam Bran has gone. The best player I have seen in the yellow shirt by a mile. We will miss him and the timing is awful but the release clause was met so no issues here. We get great money for someone with 11 months left on their contract.

What we now need to do is focus on Saturday with what we have, no new players will be able to play. A team of Stevens, Long, Moore, Findlay, Seddon, McGuane, Henry, Browne (he will def start CM), Murphy, Bodin and Taylor will do a good enough job and could beat Derby. They may have made a lot of signings, but are they a team? Their manager is inexperienced and is there any relegation hangover?

Moving forwards we clearly need, as a minimum, 1xRB, 2xCM, 1x Winger, 1 x Striker. It would also be great to get another LB, a CB and another winger.

I would guess we are at least close to signing 4 players before the CamBran news. A RB will be in door as Forde would not have gone.

We have the basis of a good squad, but need to get at least 4 in by the end of next week.
did you not see Joey play?

Yep! A squad that needed 2-3 quality additions is now a shell. A midfield at Derby of Gorrin, McGuane and Henry.. not sure the top 30 cheerleaders saw that coming!
Hang on… your buzz word all summer has been ‘ambition’… and all you wanted all along was 2 or 3 additions??!!

So… keep Hanson, Winnall, Holland, Sykes, Cooper etc, throw in a couple of quality additions and you think that’s the recipe for promotion?

Jokes aside the Brannagan and McNally sales were beyond our control. I’d argue we’ve upgraded McNally for starters.

Findlay > McNally
Murphy > Whyte
Wildschut > Cooper
Jones > Holland
Brown has stayed
McGinty > Stevens/Eastwood likely
Browne is like a new signing

There are gaps in the squad which must be filled quickly but so far our best XI is streaks ahead of last year.

Well, we’ve got a month or so to splash the cash and get some quality through the door and to further strengthen in January. If we do, we’ll be competitive at the top end. If we don’t, then we won’t.

Hey ho, it’s all part of the rich football tapestry.
The problem is (thanks to the ridiculous way the transfer window finishes a month into the season) by the end of August we will have already played 6 League games - the 18 points on offer in that period are not ones to be lightly frittered away. What looked like a poor 'pre the start of the season' transfer window looked like it had been redeemed rather earlier in the week, but the failure to add more of the players we need plus the loss of two via transfer and one to an injury leaves us very seriously short. We cannot hope to sign 5, 6, 7 or 8 players in August and hope they magically turn into a team.

(By the end of January we will have played 29 league games - if we aren't seriously challenging by then, we simply won't)

So the first set of games are less important? Not saying that as a dig, just I've never got all the folk that say the transfer window lasts another four weeks after the start of the season, and all will come good...

Loool. We started the 18/19 season with Jamie Mackie on the wing and Sam Smith up front. Got thumped 4-0 at Barnsley - could have been 10.

Loool we also had more depth at the back (incl. Rob Dickie and Curtis Nelson), Cameron Brannagan, a hungry Gavin Whyte, a pre-injury Marcus Browne, and a peak James Henry and Simon Eastwood.

Now, we have no fit RB, a midfield consisting of 2 significant knee injuries in recent years and one fit striker.

If you don't think the current squad is weaker than the start of the 18/19 season that fair enough, but it's hardly 'laugh out loud' better.

Best ever by a million miles, High praise indeed.
He’s a good player but there’s been better in the 50 years I’ve been watching, quite a few in fact.
Somebody else will come in, I am confident of that.

Not true, many people often questioned why Forde was so under used by Robbo, and why he was constantly left on the bench, when his versatility in the 2nd half of the season would've been a real benefit to the team.

It seemed to be the manager who was the only one who didn't give a s**t about him.
Robbo did give him another years contract and from what I've heard there was a big pinch of sentiment attached to it.

Cam may not have known, but his agent will have been in touch with Blackpool’s representatives for months.
Of course he knew!

For someone who according to some on here would've had no idea the release clause was gonna be triggered until it happened today, he sure agreed personal terms quickly, if ECyellow is to be believed.

He knew what was happening, and personal terms were probably agreed before the release clause was even triggered.

His social media post was probably a clever little way of keeping us fans sweet, so that when we learned of the release clause being triggered, we'd think he was still planning on being here, and was caught as much by surprise as us.

Maybe this is what KR was referring to when he mentioned "so many things that aren't right in my view"

That's the problem with these parasitic, cretinous, vulturous agents, they'd betray their own grandma if it made them a bit of money in the process.

The bigger the move, and higher the wages, the bigger the payday for the agent, the player's happiness is irrelevant, he's just a pawn in their dirty little game.

That said, Cameron Brannagan has been a superb servant to our club during his time here, and has probably resisted his agents pressure to leave us a number of times in the past, but finally feels now is the time to test himself at a higher level, a level that he probably would've loved to have reached with us, but realises it's not gonna happen any time soon, with our current recruitment policies.

Thanks for all your efforts and commitment Cam, and good luck in the Championship 👏

I’m not saying that at all. But, equally, no-one wins the league in the first month. Or loses it. At least we’ve got a suitcase full of cash to play with.

Fairs, didn't mean disrespect. I just think it's easy to remember how turbulent KR's first full season was.
