So, to get this straight, he (Pearson) wants policies put in place to prevent players running down their contracts and leaving for free after they have developed them and put work into them..... yet he was happy to sign Sykes from us, who ran down his contract and left for free? Hypocrite.

Nope. He's obviously not talking about EFL policies. He's talking about Bristol City policies. He probably thinks they should sell any player with 12 months to go that refuses to sign a new contract.

Apart from it reads that he isn't particularly happy with the player even if he says he likes him, yet benefitted from Mark Sykes doing that. I did read it that he was talking about Bristol City in particular.

Yes I know that, but he's still a hypocrite. If you are happy to pick up players who run down their contracts for nothing, you can't bleat to the press when it happens to your own players.

Is it to early to state that this our best transfer window under Karl?
If we signed Todd Kane and a decent striker, then for me, that would be a yes.

Kane played most of the season for Hull on the left so would add strength to both full back positions.

Once the full back situation is covered, IMO, we need someone to help Taylor out.

Shock horror, Murphy said Robinson was a good Man Manager and all round good bloke. Not a useless fucker after all then.
1) I know of numerous players who don’t like him and didn’t / wouldn’t sign because they don’t want to play for him as much as there are others who do. Ditto every manager in the game.

2) We have missed out on lots of targets because our management structure isn’t up to scratch, and securing one free agent doesn’t change or erase that fact.

Oxford United is the priority, not any one individual, be it a manager, player or director. It’s so boring watching every debate turn into a populist, personality cult slapping match.

So far, on paper all the new signings (including new deals) have been absolutely fantastic, and have by and large exceeded my expectations (and I’m sure others), in terms of quality and the fact they are permanent and ours!

For me there is one crucial signing we really need to make happen. Cam Bran on a new deal with a much higher or even no buy out clause! He deserves it and we want and need him!

With the better quality players around cam he could have his best season ever I think the club will be mad to let him walk but I don't think that will happen 👍👍👍

It’s patronising posts like this that proper f**k me off. This is Oxford United, not Karl Robinson FC.

No one ever said KR was a ‘useless fucker’.
They question in his ability to build a balanced squad able to achieve promotion. He’s yet to do that at Oxford due to this. I still don’t believe he will get us out of this league but would be delighted to be proved massively wrong.

Murphy & Wildschut are exciting attacking wingers. KR has proven in the past he can sign those type of players.

Findlay is a very good replacement for McNally. McNally will go to the very top.

But let’s not get carried away.

There are still major holes in our playing squad. We conceded 60 goals in League One last year.

I’m yet to see signings address that (right back, left back & holding midfielder) (Will McGinty be played over 2 average goalkeepers?) & there’s no excuses why this shouldn’t be addressed with a top 6 budget available.

So stating one side of the argument as fact isnt balanced then is it.

Crikey.

There are still a few signings to go for this to be 'best window ever' but I don't think there are many not impressed by Murphy. Bit of a coup for sure.

What we currently have is great wide options better than last season with 3 physically strong fast wingers...and in the middle of the park we're pretty solid too.

Matty Taylor needs some striker support (at current, before/if Sinclair signs and until Baldock is fit, that is less than we had last year) and we definitely need some fullbacks to either replace our current ones or at least push them harder (in Longs case).

Land a few who have the same calibre as the wingers in those spots and yeah, it would take some beating as windows go

Amazing quality in the ranks now. Just off the chart.
For me just lacking JJ, a full back or 2 who can motor, a hard CDM, and Danny Hylton.

I'm only half joking about hylton. Someone like him who will defend from the front and be a general nuisance.
We need to ensure that our lines are difficult to run my. I'm pretty confident that Findlay won't let you run through him. Happy days... Buzzing.

Absolutely. Until we strengthen the defence we are not the real deal. Good business so far but nobody should think that’s enough.

We were always going to get the quality we were looking for with the budget we have. The real question - in terms of whether the structure is working - was whether it would arrive quickly and cost-effectively.

I don’t know whether talk of Kane is yellowsforum chat or whether there is anything to it, but I would like us to sign an out and put left back improvement, rather than a RB who is comfortable playing on the left.

Not saying that is the case with Kane (even if we’re actually in for him), but I just haven’t seen any actual LB names.
