Our window is incomplete.

You can chalk me down as another who is unconvinced by MK Dons' window.

Granted, they've gotten most of their business done early. But they've lost three of their best players from last season - including the guy who was the single best player in the division in 20/21 - and they've replaced them with two mediocre League One players in Grigg & Holland, and then a bunch of untested kids at this level (Grant, Dennis, Burns, Devoy). They might turn out to be awesome, but they may equally need time to be ready for League One football (or not be good enough at all).

Their two best signings were Robson & Tucker. But Robson (by this forum's definition) wasn't a new player because they already had him on loan. And Tucker looks a decent signing, but is nowhere near as exciting as Findlay.

I think the Dons will be weaker this year than last.

Wednesday & Ipswich on the other hand........

No. It would be like us signing Thorniley as Robson was recalled from MK Dons in January.

Also… MK finished 3rd and took automatics down to the last day so rebuilding that same squad isn’t an issue.

We finished 7 points off the play offs.

Don’t act stupid.

Robson still wouldn't be a new player by this forum's definition.

MK lost their 3 best players so is very much an issue.

Yeah Dons could be on course for a stylish seventh- as could we

People on this forum like me and others have adopted that view because those players were part of a massive failure of a squad that finished 7 points off Wycombe.

I’m glad we didn’t re-sign Holland and he went to MK.
I don’t particularly want Whyte back.
I wasn’t keen on C’Brown but if he’s Findlay cover then I’m not bothered.

Well, people were saying the same last season, and look how that turned out for them. They had targets, and went and got them. Is to knock their transfers a way of diverting away from our chronic recruitment so far?
Why are people so keen to pick apart a club who have done what they set out to do? Why so concerned to say they are weaker? Evidence for this, unless they've seen their friendlies. I'm sure they would have allowed for losing players.
As we well know as a club, football isn't played on paper.
Hope it doesn't come back to bite them on the rear.

The forum definitely wanted Burns and Tucker, and I’m sure we wouldn’t turn down Grant, Devoy, Robson etc

If their window is ok god knows what ours is classed as
The forum would definitely be split at best on at least a couple of those. Robson and Tucker are okay Grant should be fine but has only really had one good year in eight which was last year the others are untried kids who look promising but who can tell ? Robson was also with them for the second half of last year and whilst he's the best one on the list for me, you're apparently not allowed to count him !

I certainly don't see those guys making up for what they've lost.

So me commenting on MK Dons' window is not an intent to comment on our window at all.

But certain posters seem to be holding them up as the poster child for how to go about a summer transfer window.

And all I'm saying is that I've actually not been that impressed with their business at all, and I think they've taken a high-risk-high-reward approach to replacing their three best players, and only complemented that with a couple of pretty flawed signings in Grigg & Holland. It might pan out, but if we'd done the same then I'd be pretty lukewarm about the summer (I'd describe myself as anxious but still hopeful about OUFC's at the minute - it can still be rescued, or it could head on down the road to complete disaster).

There is a lot though to be said for being fully prepared and gelled together. They got it so right last year, I genuinely cant see why they would take risks with their recruitment.

I know you're trying to make light of this but check the news. People's homes have gone up in flames across the South. It's no joke - if they cancelled it as a precaution to protect players and fans then so what.... it's a sodding friendly.

It’s ok for the fireman to continue there occupation though and fight raging infernos. Yet we can’t send a footballer to kick a ball about for 90 minutes. Oh come on.

I’m sure there will be drinks intervals in place for both sets of players during the two half’s.
Fires happen all the time, for many reasons. Not because of a once in a lifetime a solitary day goes 40’c

I’ve lived in this heat, and worked in it over a number of years. Regularly July/August when I was abroad it could go to 46’c. Take plenty of water, and hydrate yourself accordingly. Only a fool would allow himself to dehydrate, and turn in to a Beetroot.

Are you sure you're OK with the heat? Because you sound a little irritable, wanting to argue with everything and not coping too well in the process.

Perfectly well! thank you for your concern. I’m used to this kind of heat, and doesn’t effect me in the least. I’d quite happily run around for 90 minutes with a 20 minute break in between, and a bottle of water midway through each half.
