If Sinclair signs I’ll be supportive and hope he contributes. I wouldn’t take the risk personally but will back him all the same.

If he is the last striker we sign this summer however, it will clearly signal that our recruitment processes are broken.

The whole club is crying out for a restructure. I really wish we’d initiated it as soon as the wheels came off last season as we may well be wasting the next one.

But tbf if he were to sign he would only be a 3rd choice behind Taylor and Baldock, but as someone else said I’d over a season he chipped in with 10 goals that wouldn’t be to bad. I can’t really see us getting a striker in to compete with Taylor and Baldock but you never know. And I’m not ITK

I can assure you, Jerome Sinclair is not ‘chipping in with 10 goals’.

In fact, Jerome Sinclair has not scored 10 professional league goals in his whole career. He’s got six since making his professional debut in 2012. That’s an average of 0.6 every season. Or a higher yet more impressive average of one goal per season since his transfer to Watford in 2016.

He wasn't a bad player the first time, would be pretty cheap and, at this stage, we are clearly just looking at him. Think we can assume the burden is on him to prove himself to us rather than the club having to pursue the player. Clearly not the calibre of signing we all want, but if he impresses then there is an argument to bring him in on a pay as you play deal. No downside really is there?

If it is Sinclair and if he's kept himself fit 🤷‍♂️ then he could 🤷‍♂️ be a good player for us if he stays injury free 🤷‍♂️ and if he is still motivated 🤷‍♂️
Is he motivated though..? His career path has a spectacular downward trajectory so something is obviously wrong. Hopefully it’s based around poor advice/career choices and nothing to do with attitude or, dare I say it, ability. As others have said I hope this isn’t an example of KR showing what a great coach and nice guy he is or, even worse, a failing in or recruitment this summer. Sinclair and Jones represent two big gambles and one can’t help wondering why?

It just doesn’t stack up.

On one hand we’re told that the budget is up and that we’re looking to compete for promotion, and on the other we have Jones and Sinclair as potential signings, both of whom are certainly in the last chance saloon stage of their career.

It makes no sense to me.

Unless, the claims of significant financial backing for KR are wide of the mark/or have changed. Maybe, he’s fishing in a poorer pool than we hoped he would be. I doubt it, but at least the bargain-basket-at-Woolies potential signings would make some sense.

If he has the right attitude, then a Sinclair on the bench/3rd choice isn't terrible, probably an upgrade on Winnall/Agyei just.

Don't imagine our rivals will be raising any eyebrows over it.

Notice how the positives on here are now saying that Sinclair “He wasn’t a bad player” or “I quite liked him” it’s a stupid signing if indeed it does happen. I’d rather see one of our youngsters given a go.

I agree it's unliklely, but mainly because of the amount of football he'd probably play. However, when playing for Oxford United in League One under Karl Robinson, he scored 4 goals in 942 minutes. Small sample size for sure, but repeating this rate of goalscoring he'd have to play 2355 mins, which equates to 26x 90mins. So by that rate he'd also get close to 20 goals if he played every minute of every game.

When you consider he also got 3 assists in that time, his goal involvement rate was 1 in every 134 mins. Not too shabby really, in pretty much the only spell of consistent first team football at this level.

He's also a guy who was also very well thought of at Liverpool, and was once signed for £4m by Watford.

As I say, I don't think he is necessarily going to sign and nor do I think we should, but let's not pretend he is some kind of competition winner.

But he wasn't? As far as I can remember everyone was pretty disappointed when he turned us down. You can't just rewrite history because it's inconvenient for your agenda, regardless of what you might have learnt from the government in recent years.

Originally I said if Jerome Sinclair plays for us I would just give up. That was an overreaction to be honest. I will just laugh. You have to really. It's a shambles but moaning isn't going to change it.

Just chuckle to yourself and thank God we aren't at Gateshead.

If Sinclair was to sign, it’s difficult to look at it as a positive signing.

His goal return is negligible and I simply cannot see how he improves us as a team. I’d argue that a focused Dan Agyei is as good an option as Sinclair.

Underwhelmed to say the least.

Also in 20/21 Sinclair played for CSKA Sofia, even starting at the Stadio Olimpico in a 0-0 draw against Roma in the Europa League.

Sinclair would be a good target man if he was to sign for us that’s if he is with us training as has been alluded to or not as a poster has alluded to but then again as the great Jimmy Greaves used to say “ football is a funny old game “ so at either game today Sinclair could be playing as others have alluded or as a poster has said he isn’t or wasn’t training with………breaks for a pause for a deep breath if anyone sees Sinclair today playing for us do let us know on here or if no one sees Sinclair then also do let us know on here.
If 5 people see him, will he be on his bike?

Yes agree it’s odd but we’re trying to piece together a picture from a few small and unclear bits of information. Findlay apparently had been earning twice as much as any of our players do so we may have to make savings on other signings
