Bit disappointed with the fee but we usually do well on the old sell on clauses. McNally would have become our best ever centre half next season.

The Formula 1 giraffe. Is now in a more expensive garage.

As for the negative drivel being spouted by the usual suspects, use the ignore button.

They’ll be plenty of quality signings very soon, have no doubt of this.

I haven’t read the original comment.

But… in recent seasons George Baldock, Chris Cadden and Jack Payne spring to mind. I’m sure I’m missing an obvious other.
But the truth is that it barely happens that often, and even Chris Cadden's was a six-month loan instead of a full-season one. The worst thing to happen with a loan player is that they'll be recalled, and then we'll just sign a new loan player, just like we did with Kenny for Baldock and Brown for Thorniley. It's hardly an argument against using any loans at all when you consider we've also lost players permanently in January too (Baptiste, Fosu, Obita).

Cadden was a 6 month loan.

Payne, fair enough.
Baldock, fair enough.

On average, we have 5 loan signings a season, so to have 3 recalled across a period of 5 years, really isnt a cause for concern. It’s another case of looking for a negative, where there isn’t one..

I wasn’t arguing it. I actually think the loan market in many ways isn’t used to it’s fullest potential.

I was being facetious.

Of course and I welcome loan players, but at a point when the squad is more or less sorted and a loan player is a bonus. Too many loan players ends up with a successful squad being broken up at the end of a season.
That's potentially inhibiting the quality of the squad though. Ideally it would be permanents first but if the quality of the loan market gives us a greater chance of promotion then we should use it. You only have to look at the reactions on here to the perceived lack of signings (which is ott) - imagine if the loan policy was as suggested and we weren't moving in the loan market deliberately, it would be more than a meltdown.

* KR only wants 1 more CB
* Mousinho is still in the squad
* 3 at the back plans seem to have been scrapped.
* Sounds as if our new CB is coming from the MLS. Their transfer window opens on the 7th July.

I hope to god he is at least planning to
also sign a RB & LB. I get the feeling however that his views on how to adequately stock the defence haven’t changed.

With all due respect, if I applied to be a part of the supports group, I’d jump in the bath with my toaster, if certain members of this forum were a part of it…

I would MUCH rather Scotch voiced the opinions of fans, over the usual negative muppets that inhabit this forum!

At least his outlook is positive. You can’t fault the bloke for looking at things through a glass that’s half full!!
It’s positive in the way he is positive but negative in the way he reply’s to there opinions.

Wasn‘t there some Scottish player (no, not Cadden) we were interested in a season or two ago who was in the MLS or going to the MLS ? Could be him I guess.

“We knew Luke was going, so we needed two.”

Does this not suggest he’s after two now Luke’s off?

My two pennies worth in Luke McNally.

I think the club have made a great deal. £2 million for a play who has only played 35 professional games is incredible. People will point to his potential and if we held on to him we could get more.

We felt the same about Baptiste. Some were even bandying around £8 million for him. He has moved up but his injury record is still atrocious. If we kept him and he had the same injuries, we would have been lucky to get half of what we got for him.

LM may have Premier League potential, but he may not get there. Selling him to Burnley allows us to maximise his value now and a good sell on percentage will mean if he does reach the PL we get the money later down the line. Say he sells for £15 million in two years and we get 25% that is another £3.75 million for us. If he doesn't get there, we have made a good profit on a player who has peaked in the Championship.
