Close to switching this off now. It’s drifting.

It’s easy to say we’ve been rubbish. I think we’ve looked jaded and we’ve been well marshalled by Tranmere. They’ve kept us moving and we’ve not really settled all game.

Throw in that horror penalty and the air kick from Hanson and we don’t really look like taking it.

Is Taylor now off form? No goals in seven games, missed a few tonight.

This might prove to be a useful game, if only to show which players we can and can't rely on. You can excuse the players who played only 2 days ago. As for the others, we may be OK if we only have to put one in the team but we're clearly going to struggle if a few first team players get injured or very tired. Shame not to reach the final again, but I'm not sure we need yet another game against Sunderland or Lincoln.

This competition doesn't matter and the result doesn't really matter much either. It does worry me that I thought we were pretty poor for much of the game against Wigan (and I wasn't that convinced for quite a lot of the Bristol game) - and we know how 'streaky' KRs teams can be. Saturday is going to be important, as much for the tone it sets as the result.

Another thing that worries me is the lack of quality in many of our 'B' players, some of whom are going to have to be rotated into the team over the next weeks. Not sure that one of them has made a decent case for inclusion and some have near enough ruled themselves out (Hall, Grayson, Hanson) of playing any significant part.
