Potential New Ground

A stadium sponsorship deal would cover a large part of buying the stadium. Soneone like singha. Leicester for example get 3 mill a year. A 10-15 year deal for say 5 mill wouldnt be out of the question.
Leicester are a Premiership team, who have won the league, so £3 million can be asked.
We’re League One, so a sponsorship deal for us will reflect our position and hopes.

I may have missed it but I wonder if we will hear any news on this new ground project in the new year (2021😁)

Supposed to have been around September ok there is the pandemic and not many fans able to watch the U’s so a bit of news about that project would have been welcome.

I thought I heard Nial McWilliams state on this evenings 5 minute fans forum that, even if the club do extend the current lease, they only have to give 6 months notice to quit should the club wish to leave. If this is true then that changes things quite a bit.
Having listened back to what Niall said it was that the club have the right to renew the lease by giving notice to do so 6 months before the existing lease ends in March 2026.. That is the correct position. However, if we give that notice, the new lease will be on identical terms to the existing one and the Club will be stuck with it until March 2046.

I thought something wasn't quite right. I'd always been of the opinion that, as you say, once in, that's it. Something I cannot believe the club is really contemplating.

That's a sobering thought , I'll likely be dead before we move away from the Kassam then 😳

But didn’t NMW say last season just before Xmas that he would have some news about the ground situation by the end of last season, and yes I know last season turned into a mess with the pandemic but has that info been out on hold?

I suspect Kassam would be happy for us leave to redevelop the site.

I think either move or if we can buy the Kass and at least make it feel like home ....to just lease again would be a sickening thought tbh although of course its all about someone putting up the money.

Jesus Christ another 20 years at the kassam 😭

Even if the deal is done for a new stadium today - is 2026 early enough for us to be in? We're cutting it fine (though I imagine purchasing the kassam is our plan)
