National News Covidiots.....

Are Derbyshire police being covidiots ? ..... with no football supporters to harrass , bully, 'police ' , Im assuming its exercisers who are being 'targetted' for category a style, special treatment now?

Even though those being targetted are acting within the law and , err, exercising their rights totally legitimately

I’m planning to go out for a long walk this weekend and it’ll be about 5 miles away. I’ve stuck to my village all this week for a short daily walk - now I want to see something else. There is no definition of ‘local area’ provided in any of the guidance or the law - 5 miles is not unreasonable if you drive there and social distance from others on your walk.

I read that you can drive short distances to exercise provided there is nowhere to exercise in your immediate area. If that's the case you may be bending the rules.

I thought plod were supposed to apply the 4 E`s?
Engage
Explain
Encourage
Enforce

Unfortunately this is exactly where "Soft & Woolly" gets you.... confused people.

Boris stands up and says "You can exercise within 5km of your home address and don`t drive there" it`s simple & clear.

Then the plod can go straight to enforce.

At a guess these two got a bit "Oooo noooo not us" and are enjoying the social mejia exposure....

And if only they did what the police had asked them to do they wouldn't have been shot.

I hadn't realised that the "meet one person outside socially" allowance had gone.
But "meet one person outside for exercise" is allowed.

Walking is exercise though so I think this can be worked around if you keep your distance and walk. I’ll be continuing to take my mum for a cycle ride every week for as long as she wants to. Only difference is that we won’t stop for coffee and cake.

Meeting outside socially is exercising your tongue.

Absolutely, and for some, it's even exercising the brain.

Picnics are even better though.

Arm and core muscles are exercised in positioning the blanket and handling food. The digestive tract is also given a thorough workout.

I feel I must confess.

Myself & Mrs EY (Mk II) were out for our local walk today.
We bumped into (metaphorically not literally) our neighbours in the park who were exercising their dogs.
We walked home together, socially distanced, as we live in the same street.

Did we break the law?

Seems to me, from observing local behaviour, all you need to do is get a dog.

As a dog walker, you can simply gather in groups blocking the pathway to discuss the niceties of your various pooches, you don’t need to distance or wear a mask it seems.

Am I being too caninist?

😉just sayin.

Thank you for the guidance, I ended up walking further from my village than usual but started and ended there so still have my liberty.

My Mrs is actually classed as a key worker because she walks dogs for old people! She doesn’t take any advantage of her status though

They’re saying this time there are more children in school as their parents are essential workers, would love to know how there are more this time than the first lockdown, I appreciate there are some more but apparently it’s a lot more.

I work in a prison, working an average 50+ hour week and have done so since March. My wife works in a school and is currently working 2 full days and on call as required. Due to a huge increase in "essential/key workers" neither of our children can get a place at school. We're lucky that we have the Mother-in-Law who is able to provide childcare for us, but wouldn't expect her to home school a crazy 4 year old and stroppy 12 year old.

Fortunately Mrs Egg is fantastic at organising the kids work and we've been doing a bit this weekend to take the pressure of the next couple of days. However, I know someone who's company works one or two days a month on sub contracting work for Thames Water, and he's used this as "evidence" that he's a key worker to send his kids in while he works from home!

The definition of ‘critical worker’ is much broader for this lockdown than the equivalent definition of ‘key worker’ in the March lockdown- that’s why.

I want to know why we have so many essential key workers this time around.
