Nice to know Storm Dennis is going to be with us on Saturday so yet another heavy wind affected game coming up assuming it is on:

I look forward to the now rare event when we get a game without much wind.

At the wind tunnel that is the breeze block, that's a big ask

wind is the absolute worst weather to play in, IMO. and after the Ipswich debacle such a shame to have another potentially massive game ruined by the weather.

To be honest, if the weather turns out to be as bad as is currently forecast, I'll be perfectly happy if it is postponed. Play the game later in the season when the run of games isn't quite as crazy and hopefully get much better weather. Also protect the pitch.

The FA Cup replay v Braintree four years ago was the windiest game I’ve ever attended. I had no idea how on Earth that could possibly go ahead, but it did. And if that did, then any reason they have for cancelling this one would be interesting to head.

Not saying that means it won’t be called, of course!

Wind is forecast from SSW, so there will be some shelter from the South Stand,
but it could swirl in a bit from the open end

I remember a game against Kidderminster back in the League Two days where the wind was truly ridiculous (the old League Two days - before the conference years).
Adam Murray was playing for them and, with the wind at his back, spanked one in from a good forty yards that almost broke the net it was travelling so fast by the time it got there.

Anyways, memories aside - if the wind turns it into a bit of a shambles, is that the worst thing for us right now? Sunderland are playing really well, and we're not. So maybe a scruffy 1-0 lottery wouldn't be the worst thing........after it, we have a run of relatively easy games (Ipswich aside) during which we can hopefully rediscover some form.

Wasn’t this game against Kidderminster when at half time they evacuated a part of the South stand for safety reasons and reallocated people to the North stand?

They also need to think of the opposition and their supporters. If we were playing MK for example it's only up the road so a late call off isn't the end of the world. But for Sunderland and more importantly their fans it's a costly nightmare.
The game will just end up being a lottery and with the amount of trees around the ground it's a Health and Safety nightmare

I suspect if it is called off it will be because of the rain and a waterlogged pitch.

I think the Adam Murray goal straight from a corner was way at Eastbourne midweek. They had palm trees swaying in the wind. And at half time I mixed up the salt shaker with a sugar shaker (for tea) and so had sugar on my chips. Not as bad as it sounds.

Remember Mansfield being abandoned very late on because one of the stands was breaking up. Wife Mk2 & Spare Wife were still in the pub so it was OK.
