Manager/Coach KR needs to go

It's not about trying to prove a point, but simply to say that not playing great and winning balances out the occasions where we are by far the better team and walking away with nothing. We can look at this season and the examples I've given, or we can pretty much look at any season over the last 20 odd years to see similar issues.

Playing great football is good. Winning is good. Putting the two together - perfect. But for now I'm sure most of us would take a few scrappy wins, or the occasional goal against the run of play to get us up the table. Of course, we shouldn't have to rely on this but equally we aren't in the position to moan about deflected goals or penalties coming our way.
You are right, I’m pretty sure when KR/Tiger assembled this squad they hope it would pan out like that, I know it’s early but aspirations of the championship seems a long long way away.

Scotchegg, we’ve had three good performances this season (Blackpool away, Peterborough at home, mainly 1st half), and okish against Sunderland, but the other performances have been mediocre.

We were lucky against Coventry, awful against Burton, Rovers, Tranmere, Fleetwood, and Bolton, and lucky against Millwall.

Put it this way, we’re more consistently s**t than good.

If we truly want to be pushing towards the play offs/top half of the league then we’ve got to be beating most of those teams above or at least showing potential. The issue is, we’re getting worse not better in terms of our performances.

To be fair, he went 4-4-2 against Burton when we were chasing the game. Admittedly, we conceded the 4th a few minutes afterwards.

10mins isn’t enough.

He needs to drop/rest Woodburn & Henry, go with two wingers (ish - would prefer pacy wingers) in Fosu and Forde. Shore up the centre of midfield with two up top, possibly Mackie or Taylor and Agyei to start with. We need pace up top too.

When Henry has played well, we've actually looked like we might score so Henry stays in the team for me. He could play centrally alongside Cameron.

I do agree that Woodburn needs time on the bench. Henry could replace Woodburn in the 10 role.

I tend to agree with you, but wasn’t sure how to fit him in with two up top and Brannagan not being restricted, so still needing that holding midfielder (Gorrin). Just feel with mixture of Henry, Taylor or Mackie we still lack pace, hence the addition of Agyei, but he could always come on with his pace with another up top?

I’d go with this formation (4132)

Eastwood
Long Dickie Mous Ruffles
Gorrin
Cadden Brannagan Fosu
Taylor Agyei

I suppose in old money it’s a 442 with diamond midfield.

I’d rest Woodburn, maybe bring him on up front as an impact sub. A bit harsh on Henry who would also do well at the front of the diamond but now Brannagan has got his scoring boots on he’s got to play there.

Forde or Baptiste could come in for Fosu if we need to tighten up defensively.

KR loathes 442. Can’t see it happening.

I would imagine we have a deal with Liverpool where when Woodburn starts we pay less of his wages than if he doesn’t. This is very standard from a lot of PL clubs. Personally don’t like it at all, think it’s pretty outrageous that PL clubs effectively fine clubs for not using their kids, but it is very standard. As a result benching Woodburn for a run of games would be costly. It might happen but we would definitely pay for it.

Think you’re right on both fronts.

I'm confused by some of the comments on here!

Firstly someone complaining after 2 consecutive clean sheets that we ship goals too easily?
Then someone else saying KR can't put a balanced squad together yet another fan thinks Appleton would fill his boots with this squad of players?

So which is it?

Also i keep hearing no plan B but in reality what managers ever have a plan b, they're always tweaking things mid game so to the untrained eye (including mine) it's not always obvious when the formation is flexible.

Bolton was always going to be a strange/bad time to play them and fair play to them, come the end of the season we'll see if that's a good point or not regardless of their previous results with a completely different team.

Ian Atkins provided winning football, did everyone enjoy that and many would have had Appleton sacked very early so let's not panic in September.
You will be confused a lot on here!!

Lucky v Coventry. Really?
The Cov fans I was with thought that we absolutely deserved a draw at minimum.

A genuine question but 4 4 2 seems pretty outdated?
England were ridiculed for years for playing 4 4 2. Virtually none of the PL teams play it.
Even at our level 4 3 3 , 4 2 3 1 is hardly unusual?
MAPP hardly ever played an out an out 4 4 2 with Roofenormally floating.

Yeah but, 442! Solves all ills apparently

Not just based on another disappointing night, but since he’s been at the club- he clearly works hard and is passionate about football- but I just don’t believe he can put together a balanced squad or build a winning side. I’ve seen nothing to change my mind on him or any confidence it will improve. Sorry time for a change!!

Thank goodness our Chairmen seem to know more about football than some of our supporters.
To be fair to DE he kept with MAPP after 75% on the predecessor to this site wanted him sacked.
Hopefully Tiger gets a similar reward.
To be fair Appleton had won the fanbase round within a year of being appointed. Today was a great win though, well done to Robinson, hopefully this is the start of him finding the right formula and consistency to really push us on.

But also to be fair, on this thread apart from the OP there is just one person who has agreed that he ought to be sacked right now. Everyone else seems to have said that it's early days and with a bit of flexibility in formation (as today) we could well be OK. So the vast majority here (not talking about other Social Meeja) probably got it about right!

Coming out of the ground a couple of Lincoln supporters suggested that 'he should bloody go back to West Brom'
A bit tongue in cheek I assume but MAPP seems to have quite a job on his hand
