Were you there tonight Zero? Just out of interest. Brown looked average against a conference side, as did smyth.
It was against a conference side in a PRE-SEASON friendly that has no consequence.
Had this been a league game I could understand your frustration but these games mean didly squat.

No it means we will get promoted. You don't get any extra points for winning pre season games and the boring dull goalless draw last night is a blessing in disguise. It was plain to see we are atleast 3 quality players short still and I expect us to rectify that before the season starts.

No, No and thrice No!

It doesn’t work like that.

Anyway you and everyone else can’t handle my opinion. I can handle your opinion even though it’s not really an opinion, just wrong.

My opinion is the truth, so it’s not really an opinion just the truth.

If I throw in a bit of personal abuse, not to worry it’s just bantz.

I reserve the right to play the victim card at any time.

Impressive* Playing a third party and not the ball.

* Sarcasm.

I must admit to doubting the whole YF youth programme.
The standard of the youngsters coming through is disappointing and I'd say likely will be released to bedwetting episodes on the Banbury / Ox City ones if not a drastic improvement.
Of course still young so time to stake a place in the forums top 10 but focus , clarity and a long term take on the team rather than knee jerkism individual moaning required please guys .
Youth development mod required!

It's summer holidays, they normally get bored by September.

I think it was a preseason friendly against Leeds where Obika scored after a good preseason and the tannoy announced "your first goal scored by GOAL MACHINE, Jon Obika!"

Look how that worked out!!

As also mentioned, Danny Hylton was the worst player ever to put a yellow shirt on in preseason but did OK.

Liam Manning will be far more interested in shapes, transitions, and fitness data than anything about a scoreline at this stage, and will also know that the team is not finished yet with others to come in before the season starts.

I’m concerned that the long school holidays will allow prolonged spells of hysterics and rubbish on here when they should be doing healthy outdoor activities or helping their mum.

Wait until the season gets started and we get the pleasure of his match ratings. On Twitter, Seddon never got higher than a zero, then it was Henry with zero every match and then Taylor

He judged those way before the game even started so discussing a player after one friendly is real progress

You will sadly get used to reading this all season

Sounds like Ciaran Brown is the one this season that will get it

The Ignore function is great.

Have been on a preseason break from the forum myself but enough is enough - anyone trying to draw on anything from last night is going down a ridiculous path, particularly when there were actually a number of positives. Having slept on it:

- It was the most pre-season friendly-type friendly I have seen for years, damp squid doesn't cover it.

- We didn't look like we got out of second gear, the focus seemed entirely on shape, passing rotations, and minutes.

- Rodrigues was tidy, Brown was solid, Harris needs minutes, not a single shot on target to trouble Beadle.

- Smyth should be in first team plans. I would agree with @Colin B that it was a MOM performance.

- Sam Long has been given permission to pass the halfway line again and the difference in him already last night was striking.

- Watkins probably worst player on pitch but he put in 100% effort and everything seemed to be going through him. I liked his work rate but it just didn't seem to fall for him.

- Striker clearly needed but we all know that.

- We have to keep Goodhram.

Last night was exactly as expected from a PSF, even watching it didn't feel frustrating as it didn't feel as if we ever even got going. The shape held very well, the defence didn't worry me, and that midfield could be a real force once they have had a few more weeks together. Most importantly, the team looks like it knows what it's doing and how Manning wants to play.

Stop. F*cking. Panicking.

I think we are quite capable of that on here without the intervention of school holidays. Just look what happened that time someone said the custard cream is a terrible biscuit...

I seem to recall it was one of those rare moments where the entire forum comes together in agreement on something.

Agree.

Results really are meaningless, in fact I prefer it when there is an imperfect pre season results wise. You don't want to get smashed up, like Swindon have, in pre season and ideally you'll spread the goals around with your attacking players gaining a bit of confidence and getting a goal or two. Other than that it's just about getting match fitness up and adding a little bit of a competitive edge to things.

It’s alright saying they mean zero, we had that attitude last season, went in severely undercooked & started off slowly & couldn’t arrest the slide we went on.
