General New Stadium Plans - The Triangle - Land Deal

If looking to purchase land that is not council owned, and a larger area than The Triangle, then why not go for the Frieze Farm area... which I understand is college owned and up for grabs?
A footpath through a small part of the Triangle would mean hardly any further from the station than the Stratfield Brake site.

Frieze Farm was one of the very first and earliest “targets” considered, going back four years or so.

I wonder why it was discounted?

Maybe cheaper to lease council land than to have to buy a plot as well as pay for stadium build?

Nothing to do with cost. The only reason SB, triangle was the preferred route was the fact the council backed it.

Wouldn't the council back a world class stadium and arena etc on Frieze Farm?

Maybe. But the reason why SB and the triangle was pushed by the council was the land was going to still be owned by them while OUFC owners footed the cost to build a world class stadium and sports Village on their land.

Sadly FOSB and KPC have cost the community hugely of what they could of had for free on their doorstep.

People of Kidlington and surrounding areas need to wake up and smell the Coffee!

Out of interest does anyone know who owns the land at Frieze Farm, if it’s a college, which one?

Also which parish is FF in?

SB and the upper Triangle are Kidlington PC, south of Stratfield Brake Woodland. Ie Frieze Farm and the lower Triangle are Gosford & Water Eaton PC.

Merton and Exeter college

Gosford and Water Eaton Parish.
The Land is supposed to be the replacement North Oxford Golf Course. Plans are for housing on the golf course & to join up with the new Northern Gateway. If I'm right Exeter College, plus other Colleges own North Oxford Golf Club Land as well

North Oxford Golf Club moves to FF.

OUFC build a World Class Stadium and sporting facilities on the existing golf course.

The houses that were going to built on the golf course are built on the dilapidated Kassam Stadium site.

SB and the Triangle remain as they are.

Everyone’s a winner.

Simples.

You're forgetting FOSB and KPC have all made it clear they don't want a football stadium in their vicinity.

Even simpler, the golf course stays where it is and the stadium is built at Frieze Farm...

Even simpler. We buy Sainsburys land and develop that brownfield site. 🤣 them parish plebs don't need a supermarket, after all as they seem to be stuck in the 80's and can go back to shopping at the high street and getting their fruit and veg from a Grocer and their meat from a butcher.

Both true, but building the stadium nearer to North Oxford would really upset the members of KPC & FOSB.

I daresay there is a lot more ready money in selling the golf course but it may not be out of the question.

Why sell a perfectly good golf course (that you presumably earn a tidy sum from each year) in the face of local opposition and have to fund the provision of a replacement if you could simply sell the plot of surplus land to someone eager to aquire just such a plot.
