Transfer News January 2021/22 Transfer Window

Thing is at Swindon he would be first choice while we are looking for a competitive back up
You'd think he would be, though they have Josh Davison and Louie Barry as new signings in that position too. We need someone to cover for Matty if he does get injured, someone who is happy to sit on the bench but also someone who gives us a different option off it, I think Hylton is perfect.

'Totally' different is a bit of a stretch. I'm not saying they're carbon copies of each other, but they have similar attributes and I don't think Hylton is different enough to what we've already got. He's not going to provide pace in behind and he's not a target man. Far too often when it's just not happening for Taylor the only option we've had is Winnall and he doesn't ask different questions of defenders so nothing tends to change when he comes on. It would be nice to turn to the bench and see a forward that will change the game and perhaps allow us to play with a different approach if needed.
I keep coming back to this, one reason might be that for whatever reason our supply tends to dry up in general terms after changes are made up front

I think Hylton is perfect also

Serious?

Think that’s great business personally.
3 of those players are not match fit.

Hylton offers nothing different than say Winnall when fit.

Smyth isn’t ready for this level yet, plus Browne is coming back from a serious injury with hardly any football this season.

We needed players to strengthen the squad NOW with back-up in certain areas. The only player that I’d take out of those that we need NOW is Roberts!

When we played Blackpool in the play-offs last season it was clear we lacked, physical and athletic players who could hit the ground running, and we haven’t addressed that. Add to that, I don’t feel we’ve added to our forward line either.

Don’t get me wrong, Browne & Hylton are good players, but I’d rather they were acquisitions where they’ve played all season with each contributing to their respective clubs rather than their current offerings.

Oh dear have we signed more sick notes 😳😳😳😳😳

Sounds like things were addressed to prevent things happening externally also, I assume he refers to "Names" mentioned before either done or we're ready.

Who would you rather we signed? How could it be better?
Browne’s fine for the longer term e.g. can assess injury/get him back to match fitness hopefully.

I’d rather we’d got a striker on firm (Stockton) or similar who is doing it for their club right now.

Smyth’s one for the future too.

Roberts good.

If we lose Sykes and possibly Brannagan in this window we will be weaker than when we went into.

We have been here before with the slagging off of signing Danny Hylton, might put a tenner on promotion.

Funny, because I remember defending his signing the first time round on the basis that he was a young striker with something to prove - something I think we could do with now, rather than a player in a similar mould to what we've already got.

That being said - if we are to resign Hylton I will, at least for nostalgic reasons, be excited to see him play again and, of course, will hope he can recapture his player of the season form and help us on our charge towards the autos!

Yea, feels like its a slight twist to plan A.

Hardly likely to be prolific with us but i guess he will chip in with a few.

Not a move thats going to get me out of my seat tbh but it could be a really good move
and i would be far from unhappy if this came off.
