When in Germany and France I have always been surprised by the number of houses that have properly fitted out basements. I'm also aware of municipal bunkers in Germany. Not sure where we'd go if RAF Benson or Brize Norton were targeted.

..... cottaging on your next visit @Malc ? ..... no, its been closed down for some time now .... its on the edge of the Oxford Zero Emissions Zone....glad the Council bought that in, as if anything nuclear heads our way, can pop into the ZEZ and be totally safe

the 'underground toilets (gents) on Shepherd's Bush green, in W London were closed , then 'after a bit of work' opened as a live music and night club venue.... not been down that way since pre lockdowns, so don't know if its still open now

Shame The Cellar in Oxford closed down a few years back, we could have seen out the apocalypse with a few bands.
