General Possible milestones

James Henry only needs to slightly better this last season and he'd match or overtake 10th spot in the all time goalscorer for the club. The biggest surprise is the 10th highest goalscorer is Matt Murphy, another player that probably got some unfair criticism.

Albeit, James Henry could then get usurped by Matty Taylor.

Matt Murphy had a fabulous scoring record, you'd not see much of him in a game then suddenly he'd appear late in the box, completely unmarked, and score.

He got way more stick than he ever deserved.
It was because he had a weird run.

That half-volley at Reading was good though.

EDIT: Snap @Berliner

didn't Denis Smith sub him about 5 minutes after bringing him on?

Never could understand all the stick he got

I think it was because he was part of the squad through our decline as well which meant some people blamed him as it was easier to do that than the mess we were off the pitch.

He was always a good squad player and from memory gave us something different.

Passed like one too

Well that's the goal celebration sorted for when we beat Sunderland next year...

Contrary to many people I liked Matt Murphy. Always thought he could do more but his shooting record was up there with many of the best

3mins 50. Arriving late, smashing the ball home :D

I used to get frustrated at the amount of times he gave the ball away. But that was a fantastic goal though.
I remember him having a very good game against Chelsea in the FA Cup 4th round in 1999.

I thought about Chicken George so had a look back at old footage and his running isn't weird really but a yes on Mark Angel.
My memories of Chicken George were that he would on occasions go on a Worldy of a dribble, beat about 5 players, then either run out of pitch or get tackled trying to take on a few more just for the hell of it.

My hero throughout the 83/84/85 seasons, much more fun than the very sensible and very effective Kevin Brock on the other side. Although Jim Smith obviously didn't think so, and replaced him with the equally maverick Peter Rhodes-Brown.

Jim Smith was just ruthless but generally spot on around that time. Billy Hamilton and John Aldridge for Mick Vinter and Steve Biggins etc. Rosie was faster iirc and he did score that goal against Chelsea. At least we can work out who Chrissy Allen's idol was with his knack of running off the pitch!
