He was their main target - my how they’ve had a lucky escape! Makes you wonder how many managers were permanently alienated who were interviewed twice in a year for the KR/LM jobs…To think they were in for Des too!
He's got 5 points from 7 games he wasn't in charge for their only win, they technically won the last game without him.It is when you take over a side who are shot of confidence and have got 2 points from their previous 8 games!
For comparison, Des took over a side who had 17 points from their last 8 league games.
So Eustace went from 2 points to 8 points, and Des went from 17 points to 8 points. See the difference?
what, dropping down the league?Des’s interviews are so bloody boring. The same tired, old lines - ‘We’ll go again’ … ‘Continue to do what we know is right and what has got us where we are’ … it’s so predictable, I could chuck a brick through my TV when I hear this same drivel game after game after game …
No, but it demonstrates something that we have not seen under Des - progressionNot sure that 8 points in 8 games is anything particularly good?
Whether you quibble about whether he was technically in charge for that win or not, either way he has factually seen an upturn in form when taking over a relegation threatened side, whereas Des has seen a downturn in form when taking over a promotion threatening side. He's got 5 points from 7 games he wasn't in charge for their only win, they technically won the last game without him.
Not using this as a defence of Des at all mind.
I stick with my previous comments on Des. He isn't working out and a change is needed.
If I'm trying to illustrate my point from tonight (as no-one should be sacked after a single awful result)....I'd say the following:
In any game, and I mean 'any', the losing side normally have 20 to 25 minutes of the game where they were in it. I'm not sure we had a three minute spell ?!?
in short, the facts as I see it:
Things (performances) are not getting better
Players look confused about what is required of them
Players don't look happy
We have a starting 15 or 16 players that are as good as anything in this league with maybe two exceptions (but no team we should fear)
Des will have options in India
Honestly, I've watched Oxford from Championship to non-league. This is the worst I've seen it.
I truly performed to watch our terrible squads 'try' and lose than watching Des Football.
He wasn't in charge for the only game they won, even their website says it was Johnson and Lowe and it's hard not to see an upturn from the atrocious form they were in, he's still winless and has earned less than a point per game.Whether you quibble about whether he was technically in charge for that win or not, either way he has factually seen an upturn in form when taking over a relegation threatened side, whereas Des has seen a downturn in form when taking over a promotion threatening side.
‘It’s hard not to see an upturn in form’ makes no sense though. Teams run on confidence, on form, plus sides who average 2.19 points a game as we did before Des are likely to have better players than sides who just lost and lost as Blackburn did before Eustace took over.He wasn't in charge for the only game they won, even their website says it was Johnson and Lowe and it's hard not to see an upturn from the atrocious form they were in, he's still winless and has earned less than a point per game.
I'll leave it here because there isn't much to be gained from comparing two managers who are both doing poor jobs and trying to work out who's worse. You'll certainly get no arguments from me claiming Des is doing an acceptable job.
Wrong manager wrong time, he needed to come in when we were in a relegation battle. Unfortunately very early on he looked like a rabbit in headlights, he certainly doesn't appear to be learning from his mistakes. The first basic lesson in management, if it ain't broke don't fix it and if it is broke fix it. It looks like a complete and utter disaster for everyone, owners, senior management, manager, players and fans.Yep time to go. Unfortunately for him he is not up to managing a team at this level.
Agreed. Des' time in charge can best be described as mundane. You’d choose to watch 2000-01, 2005-06 and 2007-08 over this season?
It’s not been good under DB and tonight was by far the lowest point, but things have been a lot worse.
But have they..... ?You’d choose to watch 2000-01, 2005-06 and 2007-08 over this season?

I've never known anything like it. You honestly could have dragged a fan out the north stand and he would have done the same or better. Insane. We averaged 2.19 points per game this season before Des came in.
We’ve averaged 1.03 points per game under Des. He’s halved our average points per game. That says everything you need to know. It’s absolutely atrocious.
But have they..... ?
Getting away from Kassam's control, backs against the wall, players not being paid, losing week-in-week-out but it felt like we were in it to some extent.
This is the fundamental dismantling of a promotion chasing squad backed by the owners while a new ground is being chased.
Personally, it feels the worst ever for me (from a manager/coach perspective). I hope that makes sense if you agree with me or not.
