A bit of blame lies with all of them (except for the board). I'd say it mainly lies with the players though - regardless of the management the players have an ever-present responsibility to do the basics (like score from 6 yards out into an open goal *cough* Rodrigues *cough*).If we lose the next few games ,who would you blame. Des, Manning, the Team ,the Board or all of them????
That performance was grim - should be no issue pointing that out.Cheltenham are transformed since Clarke’s arrival. That’s not an opinion, the results show it.
We weren’t great and deserved to lose, but you paint a picture as grim as a Swindon slapper’s a**e.
This is really important. That interaction between the players and the supporters. It means a great deal.I
On Saturday, I was close enough to be within touching distance of Liam Sercombe (a fan favourite back in 2016) as he took a corner for Cheltenham. I heard a few of our bell-ends give him some abuse, then heard a conversation with him and a fan where our fan was giving him a positive word, seemingly thanking him for his time with us. He responded quickly before taking the corner.
It's the manner of defeat as well as the defeat itself. Saturday was really, really bad against a team who have been woeful all season. Hard to see how we go from that to playing well enough to beat a team not only top of the league, but on a really good run of form.
It's not a bad time to have a wobble. Plenty of time to recover, and the transfer window opening soon. Other teams will have bad spells too, maybe Portsmouth are starting one.We simply need to be in and around the playoffs by JAN. That would be a success and then the club will re-appraise and support DB to kick on.
No need to panic, regardless of tonight and the next few weeks.
Impressed you can sleep, dream and type out a yellows forum post all at the same time4-0. Sonny Perkins hattrick after a Max Woltman 25 yarder
Agree with most of this but I don't think we were lucky to win at Orient. We could quite easily and probably should have won 6-2 if we'd had a decent finisher on the pitch!!City Group (or whatever they are called) don't hand out jobs for a laugh. They look for the most talented coaches, which is why they picked Des. The 'local boy' angle is predictable and actually entirely irrelevant. He'll either turn out to be very good (which I think/hope he will) or not. Having said all that, I think we could well lose our next two L1 matches, and I wouldn't blame him at all. I thought we were starting to wobble over the last few games before Manning decided to cut & close. We were lucky to win at Orient- as others have said, we need a bit more 'nastiness' in the side, and we had a poor-ish October. I think we'll end up top 6-8 this season, which given the mess we were in last season is significant improvement.
Yup- I should have said we deserved to win, but (I thought) we were lucky to win, if you see what I mean. Orient hit the post quite near the end and had a few other chances. I have said what I think about out lack of a finisher many times, and I am sure that is at the top of Buckingham's list.Agree with most of this but I don't think we were lucky to win at Orient. Our striker missed a hat trick of easy chances.
Something that should be addressed in January.
Personally I can’t think of anything that isn’t worth blaming Manning for. It was certainly his fault that my train was delayed and I have my suspicions about the cost of living crisis. The snake. If we lose the next few games ,who would you blame. Des, Manning, the Team ,the Board or all of them????
Was that the corner they scored from?I went to watch Everton a few years ago and the players came out for a warm up before the match - fans gave the obligatory round of applause to welcome them and started chanting.
...the players couldn't care less, and didn't acknowledge the crowd in any way.

That's what separates EFL from PL. One is a club tournament, the other is an entertainment business. The best I could hope for for any Premier League club outside of the top 6 would be relegation to the Championship.
Sorry, but a team.sitting a point from the top of the league, having beaten Barnsley, Derby and Stevenage amongst others in some style, with the same squad and coaching shouldn't be expected to be given a three game loosing pass. We should be looking to win each game. That would leave us mid tabCity Group (or whatever they are called) don't hand out jobs for a laugh. If anything it should be the other way. The new managers bounce, anyone?
This seems to be setting the bar really low, just in the off chance it does happen. You can't suddenly go from going x number of games unbeaten to accepting/predicting losing the next 3.
If it does end up going that way, then something is clearly going wrong.
You will feel better once you accept it and just come out as a fully fledged Oxford United fan, it's nothing to be ashamed of and we are all here to support you on this life changing decision. As many of you know I am actually a Palace fan. It's my daughter who is the huge Oxford Utd supporter and I absolutely love going to watch the yellows with her. I love Palace and the community around the club but I can tell you that @Scrongo is right. The Premier League is dull. Realistically three clubs can win the title and five clubs are likely relegation candidates. The rest you hope for a good cup run. Supporting Oxford Utd is much more exciting - look at the transformation in the last nine months, the rapport between players and fans, the opportunities of the new ground. League One football is passionate and exciting. If I could change one thing though it would be the standard of reffing.
It isn't the same coaching though is it...Sorry, but a team.sitting a point from the top of the league, having beaten Barnsley, Derby and Stevenage amongst others in some style, with the same squad and coaching shouldn't be expected to be given a three game loosing pass. He could have switched sides and started playing for us and they still would have won!Was that the corner they scored from?
Yeah.. cheers Serc’s…
I am actually jealous of my daughter's support. Genuinely love Oxford and think it is a great club. To justify it I keep looking for spurious linkages between Palace and Oxford. You will feel better once you accept it and just come out as a fully fledged Oxford United fan, it's nothing to be ashamed of and we are all here to support you on this life changing decision.
Actually on this, there is a Spanish dog food called "boner". Get sponsored by them and we'll get the promotion / FA Cup double.I am actually jealous of my daughter's support. One thing that joins both clubs is that we both had embarrassing shirt sponsors at our peak moments. It's tricky to walk with any pride wearing my 1989 FA Cup final t-shirt when it has the word Virgin plastered on the chest. And of course - just as you win the League Cup - there is Wang right in your face. Even at our great times the Gods of sponsorship try and beat us down. One way for Oxford Utd to guarantee promotion this year is to get sponsored by a Bolivian detergent called "t**t".
