We just cannot compete when the pressure is on and it really matters. That has been the same for 3 seasons and there is one common factor in that. Nice bloke but nowhere near ruthless enough to bring success.

Get players in early and forget signing wingers. We score loads but can’t defend, a problem we’ve had for a few seasons.

Here comes the knee jerk mania!

We are a small provincial club, who don't own a ground. We are doing ok in the circumstances.

I am gutted to see the U's lose any game, reality is the playoffs would be nice. But we as a club are really not in any position to go up to the championship just now.

There is much work to do, financially, the ground situation etc.

Let's be realistic folks, win or lose up the U's!

I thought we had spent big in the last transfer window to consolidate our play off position and go into them with a good chance if winning. It turns out that the budget was blown on injury prone attacking players and not to plug the glaringly obvious defensive frailties.

We've had a bad week, unfortunately it's come at the worst possible time of the season. Don't let that ruin what a wonderful season this has been, yes we've conceded goals but we've outscored almost all other teams. In terms of entertainment we should be grateful, the defence would have been fine had we been able to keep a consistent backline on the pitch but injuries haven't helped.

Wonderful?! What?!

Playoff final
Playoff semis.
No Playoffs (most likely).

That's not progressing over 3 seasons, but it is overachieving for a small, provincial football club.

In fact, it is pretty consistent considering the strength of the league. 🤷‍♀️

That isn't true, it's probably more we need Championship football for the new stadium to maximise income.
And that’s at least 4 years away. What we should be looking to do is try and make the championship as if we are all honest we could well come straight back down, but if we did our finances would be better and possibly get us back up again without finances getting better so we could start our 1st season in the championship with some financial clout to be able to become sustainable non the championship.

And who’s fault is that? Yes we’ve had injuries but not having suitable cover for our defence positions is not going to keep a consistent back line, it was blaring obvious we were woefully short in defence and not enough was done to rectify that when it was possible.

We are not as small a club as some on here are making out. Give this city a proper stadium and championship football and crowds would be average Championship crowds.
That will take a while depending on your average size championship crowds.

Top of the league Wigan are a large metropolitan club? MK Dons, Rotherham, Plymouth, don’t seem to be hindered by this either

Not certain why you can’t get in the league play offs (won last two years by Blackpool and High Wycombe) if you are not based in a large city but I am sure the most random poster on here will explain.

We have played 20 games against teams in the top half of the league this season and taken 19 points. Didnt we lose 11 and draw 1 in 12 games against the top 6 last season? I think the previous season was similar. There are clear positives with KR but im not sure eat, sleep, repeat is going to get us promoted any time soon.

Is it overachieving if the small, provincial football club had the 6th highest budget in the league and turned down £1m+ to keep their best players?

The owners are ambitious, they may disagree.

Totally agree. We need the new ground before we even think about the championship. We have over achieved in my opinion during the last few years
So we need to be extremely patient children for just another 4 years stuck in this league yeah? I sincerely hope that you are going to be there every other week till then lending your support with around 92 league home games to go before the dream that we aren't over achieving is finally put to bed.

F*cking roll on 2026 then.
