Yesterday we saw the return of a display pre game. It helped with the atmosphere massively. A big positive.

However, I feel uneasy that nothing has been mentioned in regards to the stolen money previously from last year. Lots of donated money from Oxford fans that was handed over in good faith.

Has there been any explanation of where this money has gone from anyone within the Fanatics or the Yellow Army?

Seen a lot of talk about it on social media (Facebook & X) regarding them asking for donations again and how they could possibly be trusted.

As far as I know, this is an entirely different group of fans trying to do something to enhance the atmosphere. I lost money to the last lot but whilst I can understand why some are reluctant to donate again, I'm willing to give these guys the benefit of the doubt for the sake of a couple of quid.

I thought this was the case too but it seems to have been confirmed on X (Twitter) this evening that they’re the same group.

So who were the members of the group who received the 'missing' money, which of them are involved in the latest group, why won't they account for where it went or has it been rediscovered? (I don't do twatter)

"New group" - that made mistakes.

Just the new group, same as the old group....................... minus the money.

Sadly that will make many people very wary about donating to someones holiday/beer fund in exchange for some coloured paper and balloons.

The twitter thread has this comment from The Yellow Army
“We now hold all fan donated money, past and present

A detailed account of the money spent yesterday, the money we hold, and any future spend will be shared with @OUFCSP for transparency.

We are all working together to help move forward. Things are very different now.”

Well that`s "interesting".

Posted by "The Yellow Army" on X.

See what happens when you get splinter groups doing "their thing" ? No accountability and tiny minorities hiding behind smoke and mirrors.

*I`ll await Mr Positive to play the man and not answer "Where the money went".

I think it fantastic that we have a group back trying to improve the atmosphere .
It was clearly far better from the off on Saturday.

With regard to the missing money (and I contributed to this), it would be good if OUSP came out and confirmed the claim that thete is the old money and bew contributions held.

Lete hope a line can be drawn under this, thete is some independent checks in the money, and the atmosphere can be improved ( something that is badly needed)

Admitting they made mistakes is one thing but I still don’t see an apology from them for stealing everyone’s donations?
On the replies it is said that the group put the missing money in themselves for this latest display.
If that is the case then I’d expect a bit more than balloons and streamers.

I’m confused;

Are they saying that the people who stole the money have now out of the kindness of their hearts put the missing money back in? If so that’s some cheek.

Or have people who didn’t steal the money put the missing money in. If that’s the case then it’s a very generous thing to do.

Either way supporters deserve to know how much was originally donated and what happened to it.

There was between £500 to £1000 donated for the Cambridge game last year first game of the season and no display was done.

They’ve been asked about it a number of times judging by the replies to them asking for money again for the Arsenal game and no answer was ever provided.

I can at least 50+ replies to them on Twitter/X without an explanation.

I think many will find it hard to donate until this is fully explained.

Think it’s worth mentioning, and I might be wrong, that the Yellow Army and the Oxford fanatics were two different groups.

I’ve helped with the Yellow Army in the past (I think ran by Joe Nicholls) and he has initiated an uplift in displays/atmosphere this time around, not the Fanatics.

I assume the fanatics have now been recruited by the yellow army with Joe running things.

Previous donations went to the Fanatics, this looks to be managed by the
Like I say, I could be wrong.

a statement/ announcement from Yellow Army and/or @OUSP would clarify things IMO

I completely understand the confusion and lack of trust.

Id like to try and address a few things to hopefully help us all move on.

The Oxford Fanatics were created to fill the gap by the Oxford Ultras ending a few years of incredible influence on the atmosphere and colour they brought. The name came about during early discussions as a way of the group connecting with the fanbase as we are all Oxford fanatics in our own way. I brought some fans together and I helped them build things initially and I made sure everything was done right.

For mental health reasons and to be more present with my children, I stepped back and left it to others to take the group forward. The Arsenal display was their first without my guidance. I took a complete break from football related stuff, until OUSP mentioned earlier this season that some issues and questions had arisen regarded financial contributions from fans.

I looked into what had gone on, what was or wasn't true, and made sure that 'Fanatics' finances came back under my control again so I could get a grip on things. At one point, as I was angry and upset, I decided the 'Fanatics' should be replaced by a brand new group to help us start again and move forward. But after giving it a lot of thought, I felt that the hard work to create a group and the reasons for the name 'Fanatics', I would rebuild the Oxford Fanatics were created to be a group that belongs to Oxford fans, and they are who matter the most. I brought a new group of lads together and made sure strict rules were understood and needed to be followed. I want to make it clear no money ever went missing. Certain things didn't happen as they should have and a lack of communication only added to the suspicion and uncertainty around it all.

It has been an exhausting few months, and I admit I haven't got everything right. But my whole intention, and I use I instead of we so I take full responsibility for what went on before, and what happens in the future, to allow a passionate group of fans thrive as we try and build a stronger connection with the team, our club and fanbase. A 'United Oxford' is something I've been working on right across our fanbase and football club, and openly playing out some of the negatives that have happened, I felt wasn't the right thing to do as we look at building positivity, belief, unity and atmosphere. It's been toxic at times this season, but we have turned that around.

As for some of the new group putting their own money in for Saturday to make up for previous mistakes associated with the 'Fanatics' that had nothing to do with them, this was to try and show their commitment to a new era and make an effort to try and show they care about doing things right.

Previously donated money that is unspent will be put towards new flags and banners in the summer, and the first game of next season to start the season with a bang and to show this group will not only make up for what went before, but will do things bigger and better than was originally planned.

A busy few weeks ahead (hopefully) when a United Oxford will be vital to help us be successful. Once the season is over, we will work with OUSP so everything is in order and they can be satisfied that every penny donated in the past and present is accounted for and has been spent correctly.

Hopefully that clears some things up. I have a lot going on and planning for every eventuality. But please message me with any questions and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

COYY

It's also worth saying, I advised the group to put a tweet out acknowledging the past, even though it wasn't down to them.

This is all on me, not the group of young lads now trying to take things forward. I will remain in an advisory role throughout next season at least to help everything be done correctly and to deal with any issues that come up.

I agree with @Scotchegg, I feel the need to give this group a 2nd chance. If we don’t then the end result will probably be no displays.

I thought they did well on Saturday and I’ll continue to hand over a fiver / tenner when the next requests come.

I do think it would be helpful, due to the previous experience, if the fanatics posted / tweeted how much they collected & how much they spent (plus if there are surplus funds) after each of their displays. I think this will help them regain people’s trust.
