Current Player #39 Gatlin O'Donkor

He looked a very good striker in the FA Youth Cup last year even against Leeds United youngsters.
He is finding himself at NL level
I know a lot disagree, but I have always had the view that he has the attributes to play at L1 and above if he keeps developing
Agree next season league 2 loan then I think we might have a decent player there. Its such a shame he didn't go out on loan sooner.

He’s still young so plenty of time for him to develop and that spell coming on late and holding the ball up at L1 level will still have contributed to his development a bit. He’s now seen what NL and L1 level is, and the difference etc. Agree that a L2 loan will be a good next step

I came across as very critical last season as I didn't feel he was up to League 1 level and actually his lack of goals was costing us but my main issue was him being in that situation in the first place. He's still only a teenager and the same age as Carlton Morris was when we had him in League 2, hopefully this run of games will kick start his career again.

Fair play to him for going out and taking his opportunity and credit as well to the management team for creating a squad where he was able to go out and get games as we've failed him on that front for the 18 months previous.

I think his contact is up in June. There is a one year option. Not much point loaning him out again next season unless you offer say a new 3 year contract. Is he worth that?

I would definitely offer him a new contract.
He is 19 and is improving. The last thing that we want to do is to let him go and let some other team benefit from all of the development OUFC have put into him.

Agreed. I can’t imagine it will cost a lot either, especially as the loaning club would pay a % of his wages

100% this

5 in 10 since he joined Barnet - that really was the perfect move for him. Just a shame it didn't happen six months earlier.

Has to be a good chance that he finishes his season at Wembley now.....they are locked into one of the NL playoff top seeds, and under the current format that just means one home game to win before the Final.

Perfect move for him. He’s got so much going for him, but while playing him in L1 might have helped him develop in some ways it seemed to be damaging in others. His finishing was unrecognisable from the Youth Cup games and he looked completely out of his depth at times.

Another 6 months at Barnet next season, possibly twelve if they go up this year, otherwise another 6 in L2 somewhere, and we’ll have a very good idea of his potential.

Which he never really did here, snatched at the rare chances he got. Shows how for some players getting games and experience at a level they can be a bit more comfortable at is important, another loan out next season then see where he is after that.

Yes, he seemed to be trying too hard to get that goal whilst having low confidence. It is amazing how different a player looks when confident.
