Manager/Coach Des Buckingham

Yes, it's a results business and yes we've been inconsistent (although what a performance last Saturday) but I cant tell you how important it is to me that a manager represents the club properly. Des does this so well and I am very proud to have him represent Oxford Utd. People will say I'm sentimental and results and performance matters. Of course they do but lets give the guy a bit of time and a proper close season. In the meantime let's be proud of conversations like this. I've no idea if Des' nephew is disabled or just a young lad who enjoyed the sensory room but as the dad of an autistic son I am very proud to see these sorts of conversations take place.

Des is done after tonight. Even the most hardened and compassionate fan surely can see he’s out of his depth now. The performances are a shambles and the results are equally abysmal. He’s played a variety of teams and we’ve been dire in the majority of games with only a few wins against lowly clubs. He doesn’t have the passion on the touchline and I can’t fathom what his gameplan is half the time other than throwing the usual suspects out and hoping they do something.

Lincoln were in for him and replaced their manager after ours and have shot up the table with 13 games unbeaten and some devastating big wins and plenty of goals. We’re still fumbling and wondering when we play two up top for instance.

This season has eerie similarities to the catastrophic 2014 season too and it’s not just the management who aren’t up to it - like we saw a decade ago, it’s top to bottom.

(Wrote this at 2-0 and it’s currently 5-0)

I was one for letting him have the summer - but we will just end up with the same sh!t in September. A competent manager should be able to at least organise and motivate a team - he clearly cannot.

Have added a poll, unfortunately that is it for me too, really wanted him to succeed but the performances are just appalling.

I have voted 'Yes' but I don't think it will happen. The football side of the club seems to be the last thing of concern to the 'senior management team'.

He has to go. We look like a Sunday league team with no improvement since he’s come in. He’s had time and theres been 0 signs of improvement. Tonight’s performance has been disgusting

Sorry to say, as I like the guy, but even if we improve he’s proven he’s not a coach that could get us promoted.

Des seems like a really nice guy and is an Oxford lad and fan by all accounts. But he’s clearly totally out of his depth.

We have definitely gone backwards
The concern to me is how poor we are defensively. We are so easy to score against.
Bolton are a very good team, but 5 0? Virtually no attacking threat and totally outplayed. Not good enough
