Current Player #39 Gatlin O'Donkor

He needs a loan to play every week he has only just turned 19 I do believe the raw attributes are their pace, power and a good finisher through the age levels. He was a cheat code in the fa youth cup last year even against championship and Prem opposition. The current situation is stunting his development

^^^^^^^^ This.

Pleasing to see the penny dropping among fans on players like O’Donkor and a handful of others. Not suggesting we want to be picking every player apart but it suggests a shift in standards and people now starting to recognise us as a club that isn’t content with sneaking in to the top 8 and operating as some sort of development centre that puts sentiment ahead of success. We’re slowly phasing out the mentality of being pleased with a draw if O’Donkor and Goodrham got good game time. This is healthy progress that we’re seeing where all players, regardless of age and ability, are being held to account for their contributions towards winning every week.

O’Donkor is (until recently) our second choice striker and therefore there isn’t any slack to cut him. He’s important and needs to contribute more than he has. It’s proven too much too soon for him so far and that’s OK, but we must park any sentiment and move on to somebody else. That doesn’t mean trampling on his development, it means try something else for him while we better ourselves in pursuit of going up.
Great post.
It’s simply not good enough in our position in the league to tolerate an under- performing player who can offer very little except that he’s “one of our own.”

Had a strange thought...

...i wonder whether GODs absence last Saturday was because he'd perhaps taken a lead from another former striker and put a Bristol city shirt on one of the mannequins during Friday's training?????

Pleased about this. It's 18 months late but he's still only young, hopefully he can get some proper game time actually playing as a striker rather than someone to try and see out a lead. Can only be good for him.

Really pleased he’s gone out on loan. It will do his development the world of good. He’s not anywhere near Lge 1 standard.

I feel he’s been held back a season or two, because of the lack of forwards in the building. I think he will do ok at conference level.

All the best to him. Obviously Chesterfield are running away with the league, but would be a great experience for him if Barnet have a good play-off run (hopefully a day out at Wembley)

Good move ,let's hope this helps with his education ,it will help the club find out if we have a player .

That is absolutely perfect.

The right level for him right now, and he's going to be going to a decent club that are playing well and scoring a lot of goals (second most in the division behind Chesterfield.....who are absolutely destroying that league this year). I guess the only question is going to be playing time, but if he gets plenty of minutes, then he should get plenty of chances - and working on his play in front of goal is exactly what he needs right now.

(much better than going to City, and getting thrust into the middle of a (probably futile) relegation battle.....even if it would have been more local and easier to keep tabs on him)

Good luck Gats!

About time. Probably the best and kindest thing we’ve done for him in his career since a pro deal was tabled. I’m also taking from this that we have no concerns over Goodwin from this point on…

Aim of the game shouldn’t necessarily be a tonne of goals but to find out what player he’s going to be for the next decade.

Great club choice by the way. Better than I thought he may get and they’ve had a hand in the careers of a few good players over there.

Great for him. What is the recall like for non league? We now only have two centre forwards, one who is not quite fit.
